3208 Cat engine
I own aBB motorhome with a 3208 Cat Turbo.
Couple of questions:
Has anyone put on a bypass filter? If so what type, kind?
I have read a lotabout synthetic oils, is it really worth the cost?
Also, any preference as to type?
Thanks in advance Bill 84 FC 35 SB "$quanderlodge"Terrace, B.C. Canada Instant message from any web browser! Try the new Yahoo! Canada Messenger for the Web BETA |

I have over 150,000 miles and 4000 hours on my engine with no repair other than a valve adjustment and a new seal on the injector pump. In my opinion, synthetic oils are great if you have an engine that operates at high oil temperatures (250 deg. F or higer -- ie race engines). Do not feel in my case that the extra expense is worth it in the Bird. I am sure you will find others with differing opinions however. Jim Brookshire 1989 SP-36 Saluda, NC PS I was an attendee of RIV in Branson who thought it a success considering the current economic climate for RV manufactures. I don't think we would have had 60 coaches at Perry if the rally had to pay the total cost. __________________________________________________________________ > Instant Messaging, free SMS, sharing photos and more... Bill,
No bypass filter, but the PO put in Delvac synthetic, the bus came with a 5 gal can of it so I continued the use... Runs a little cooler and does not use any or burn any... 3208 Cat engine
Cat has recommended 15-40 for years. texaco ursa, delo 400 or shell rotella T are fine for this older engine
