Interesting after X-mas buy
I just got back from Radio Shack and then double checked on line.
There are a few mini-laptops out (screen size 7-10 inches) running Windows XP for well under $500 (Tiger Direct $299). They can run GPS programs, WiFi, eMail calendars and other very useful stuff for Birders. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads-up. We've already got one otherwise would be buying. Wave, GPSgary |

Interesting after X-mas buy
Carol Dupree really liked my little MSI Wind - wonder if Randy had to spring for
one of the sort for Christmas? The category started out being called UMPC, for something like Ultra Miniature PC, but the name that seems to be sticking is "net book." Mine has a 10-inch screen, 1GB Ram, 80GB HD (newer ones have more), and a keyboard that is 93% of full-size. 3 USB ports, built-in webcam and WiFi, and weighs 2.2 lbs.
