Camloc fasteners

Greetings to all. I would like to replace the
fasteners that hold the electrical panel outside the front of the bus. Does
anyone have any sources for these. Also, If you have the size
of the fastener it would be very helpful.

I’m hoping to stay away from aviation sources because they
can get costly for “screws”

Thank you.

Aircraft Spruce <http://www.aircraftspruce.com> sells Camloc fasteners like those used on the front panel. There's a number (you'll need a magnifying glass) on the head of the fastener that tells you the size -- but check against the measurements as the number is very hard to read (at least it was on my fasteners).
You need a special tool to install them -- but if you're clever and have 3 hands you can do it without the tool. (I was only replacing one that I had broken, so I didn't get the tool.) If you wish to replace more than one or two, the tool is well worth having.
I don't recall the camlocs as being all that expensive. I bought 2 or 3 "just in case" because the shipping was more than the fastener. Not _all_ aircraft parts are expensive.

If you have an aircraft supply place in your area they can lead you
to where you can buy camloc fasteners. Comlocs are used extensively
in aircrafts. I am sorry I cannot get that info from where we are. I
will have to Wait till Monday to get you a company name that can help
you with size. I recommend using stainless steel that would
eliminate the rust problems.

Thanks to all for your input on the Camloc fasteners. I
found a company on the net that sells them for a “reasonable price”
($3.50) compared to others. (www.milspecproducts.com)
They sell all sizes. The part number for my bus is 27s3-14s.
It requires 20 camlocs. 14 is the length of the stud stamped on the head
and S stands for stainless steel. I decided to go with stainless for
longevity and the price difference is pennies.
