Mysterious Relay

While chasing the genny high voltage issue in our 86FC35RB I found a
relay that was warm/hot in the transfer compartment behind the ice
maker. The relay was warm and in a clear plastic cover which
was "cloudy" along the edges of the cover. When I unplugged it and
plugged it back in I heard a click under the step.. Now what is this
for and does being "hot and cloudy" (not the weather guys) mean that
the relay could be getting ready to fail...better to fix it now than at
some bubbas shop in who knows where..
