Need recommendations in San Antonio area
Yes, I learned the hard way too! My old class C had no such issues, but obviously way less complex. I've checked mine and there appears to be roughly a 5-10amp constant draw.

No, I've owned for quite some time. In fact, we lived full time for years and only moved into a house last fall. So, the coach was always running down the road, on the genny, or hooked to shore power. As such, I've never had the thing just parked without power - I didn't know it would drain on it's own. But, I do now

As usual, I haven't had much time to troubleshoot lately but I did manage to do some and isolate the problem I cleaned and tightened all the ground straps I could find including the one from the starter. And, I installed new 6volt batteries to ensure clean power.
I spoke with Mike Mulbriss and he recommended trying to start the coach from the rear start. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that........ But, I finally found the key (on a spare ring) and switched to "rear start" and she fired right up without hesitation. So.....it's not a starter problem like I thought. Mike also suggested checking the solenoid "clicks" from the front overhead. When I turn the front start, the solenoids do click but nothing else happens. I did get into the overhead and checked all the cable connections behind the rubber curtain and all seems well.
So, I can start it from the rear but I still can't start it from the front. Also, I've noticed that the batteries are drained if I leave them hooked up. I have searched the coach over and can't seem to find any lights on, frig, or anything else that would be drawing power.
What should I check next? What could be draining my batteries? Is it the ignition switch?
As always, I appreciate the help and assistance of you all.

Hi Jerry, just talked with Mike Bulriss and then saw your post. You can start form the rear key switch but not the front. Replace the rear toggle switch, it is bad. I put a write up in one of the Family of Friends News Letter covering this including photos. The switch can be by passed and the front traded with the rear start stop function but easier to just replace the toggle switch in the first place. Ralph,
I'll replace the switch - never thought it could be that. If it is really that simple, I guess I'll owe you a beer or two and some good cigars
One thing I've discovered with motorhome ownership over that past 20 years or so: Most problems are usually very simple. But, finding that simple solutioncan be a chore at times.
I can't wait to change the switch and see if she fires up from the front!

We had the same thing happen to us a couple of years ago. It turned out to be the A/T switch (anti-theft)which was switched "on" by mistake when I dusted the dash. Try flipping the A/T switch the opposite direction and see what happens.

Yes, I tried the AT switch already to no avail. Today I pulled the toggle switch from the rear of the coach to find a replacement and discovered they are not easy to find. The numbers on the switch were used to reference and I found out that same number is used on lots of switches and they are extremely hard to find with 6 pins on the back. I took the switch apart to clean and see if it appeared to be faulty. It was in excellent shape and appeared to be in great working order. But, I did clean it up and reinstalled. The coach still starts from the rear but nothing from the front. So I am back to where I started. Any other suggestions? Jerry 85 PT40 Sent from my iPad

Did you try reversing the connections, so rear was front and vice-versa? That

Need recommendations in San Antonio area
My coach had an intermittent problem with the front key, we had to hold it for
prolonged cranking before the DD would catch. [This was hard on both starter and batteries....] We landed at a small private trucker that takes in repairs - Hoffmann, in NE Houston/Aldine. They opened the armrest, checked the wires at the ignition, checked the wires at the starter, and declared the problem somewhere in between. Rather than chase the circuit [and risk a game of cascading failures], they ran a new wire the length of the coach. The entire exercise took under 4 hours. Great folks. Ergo, a possible wiring issue is the only suggestion I can offer. No, I haven't taken out the front switch yet. I did switch the wires on the rear start to ensure the switch was working properly (and it is). Is the ignition switch normally a culprit? Maybe I need to pull it and ensure the wires are properly tightened and that nothing is shorted out. Are the switches easy to find if I need to replace it?

I have had the key switch out of my 85 pt40. It has a spring that holds it in. You have to take the box that holds the shifter apart. There are two screws behind the air dump box that are hard to see
