Valve lash and Rad removal

Hey Jon! If you don't have the swing out option on your rad., removing it will
be very fun...

I am lucky to have my 79 FC33 retro equipped with the swing out, so when I took
out mine last summer to have it repaired and the core expanded, it wasn't that
difficult. Just have to disconnect all top water pump hoses and water temp
sender wire.

Taking off bumper was relatively easy, except for the weight!

Maybe others on the list can help me on this one. After I put everything back
together, I lost a few of the rubber/steel washers used on the front panels, so
that the bolts aren't directly on the paint and marring it. Know where to get
some? I've tried my local fastener supplier, but no luck....

Got two estimates one for 75 dollars and hours and the other 95
dollars and hour. Someone here stated it takes about 3 or 4 hours to
complete this job so maybe it looks like $300 dollar or so? DOES
ANYONE ONE KNOW WHAT THE PRICE OF VLV GASKETS COST? THANKS Jon

PS That swing out radiator would be nice but at a $1000 dollars or
more that a little bit to much for the old Scotchmen!!!

Jon; 2 years ago I pulled my front end off on side of the road just south of
Omaha Neb. It took my son and myself approx .one hour to pull everything off
the front so we could get to our fan belts and pullys.The only thing I will
say if I ever have to pull one apart again I will replace the hyd on the
lower raditor with hyd quick coulpers . this would be a faily small job for
the couplers to be installed. It took us about anouther hour to reinstall,
so it ran approx 4 manhours.I used and electric impact wrench and that
helped greatly.But the swing out raditor would make the job easer and

Jon, a whole G for the swing out kit?! Holy Cr$p! If yoy know someone who does
welding, and fairly good at it, I'd be more than happy to show you mine in order
to make a copy, or more prcisely your own design that emulates this one.

Let us know how the trip to the mechanis goes for the valve lash. I am hitting
my first twenty one thousand on my FC this week, and wonder about the difficulty
in doing this myself....
