Woody,
I will be enjoying driving my bird down the road at 8 mpg running my biodiesel fuel that cost me less than $1.00 per gallon to make. I started tracking my cost in Nov. '06 and have saved $685.08 making 334.68 gallons of the fuel. Tracking my cost, I have an average price per gallon of .97. I have changed methanol supplier so my last cost is in the .74 - .83 gallon range. As for time I spend collecting and brewing the mix, I estimate about 2 hours of my time. Most of the process is automated so I setup and walk away. Of course, I am not far away. I produce in my warehouse during my work hours so I or someone in my staff is close to the process in case something is needed. Most of the time is time spent collecting the oil and titratig it to produce the appropriate amount of chemicals to add ( methanol & KOH ). I am glad that I can do something to reuse a waste product that would otherwise go to a landfill, animal feedstock or make-up. Yes ladies out there, if you only knew that waste cooking oil is used to make some comestics. Of course, I am sure it is treated and sterilized but none the less just the thought. In addition, all my research indicates that biodiesel is better for the engine lubrication and makes your enine quieter. Woody, if you go and watch what is going on at EBAY, it doesn't take long to
see that a lot of people are trying to unload at yesterday prices. Most bidding concludes without coming close to their reserve. I am watching with a lot of interest as I am looking for a nice Coach, if not a BB maybe a Country Coach. That hasn't changed in the 8years I've been shopping and
buying 'Birds. People think that once they see a coach their year listed (not necessarily selling) for $XX theirs must be worth $XX plus a little more, because it's special, so they ask the same or more. Realistically the few coaches that really do sell for a premium are worth it, most of our coaches have a pretty long list of items not functioning or looking like new. The same thing is happening to Isuzu NPT trucks (high-fuel-mileage turbodiesel box trucks), and to Bobcat-style skid-steer loaders, both of which I'm watching for a deal. Most of them go un-sold by not reaching reserve. I don't think it has anything to do with the price of diesel as the same thing has been happening for quite some time. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Jerry" > > Woody, if you go and watch what is going on at EBAY, it doesn't take long to > see that a lot of people are trying to unload at yesterday prices.
