Interstate 78 Question ... Tupelo, MS to Birmingham, AL
Does anyone know if Interstate 78 runs continuously from Tupelo, MS
straight through to Birmingham, AL.?

My Road Atlas is not current, in fact, it may even be considered
vintage!

Thanks.

Interstate 78 Question ... Tupelo, MS to Birmingham, AL
Hello:

Hwy. 78 is not an Interstate. The Interstate portion in Alabama is
known as Corridor X and is not completed. I think it is Interstate 4
in Mississippi. It is limited access from Tupelo to Jasper, Al and the
4 lane from Jasper to Birmingham. The 4 lane portion is good road.

I folks live in Jasper and Birmingham so I am very familiar with the
road.

Interstate 78 Question ... Tupelo, MS to Birmingham, AL
Hi James,

Just came across that route (in opposite direction)
to make a "Tunica donation" on way to the Branson Bird
rally. Route is great; certainly compared to what it
used to be a year or two ago. Might as well be an
interstate except for a few short spots and they are
working on those parts.

Interstate 78 Question ... Tupelo, MS to Birmingham, AL
Thanks, John and Marv.

Looks like I will take 78/4 from Memphis to Birmingham, then 65 to
Montgomery, then 231 to 10 in Florida.

John, if it makes you feel any better, I have collected a nice
donation from Tunica. Well, at least from the poker players in
Tunica.

Thanks again.

Interstate 78 Question ... Tupelo, MS to Birmingham, AL
Hello, Scott.

Wish I knew you were in Memphis, I've been in Tunica for 3 weeks. I
will be pulling out tomorrow so I guess it's too late to meet up
this time. However, I'll be back!

I will let you know when I'm here again. See you next time.

Hi again, James.

Exactly the reverse of our route. Nice little
campground on 231, couple miles South of center
"Circle" in Dothan, AL that works out to be a tad more
than 1/2 way.

Will you be using FL I-75 or I-95?

Glad a BB person benefitted. My smidgen at the crap
table wouldn't buy a good dinner, however. Have a
safe trip and leave some of those $$ for us here in
FL.
