coach won't stay running
If it were not for bad luck I would NOT have any luck at all. Upon leaving
the garage Thursday with new Pittman arm seal which does NOT leak, the coach
kept shutting off. Starts right up again, runs for a few minutes, and shuts
right off. So I changed both the Racor and the spin on filter, ran for about
five minutes, shut off, started right up. Appreciate any ideas, I am think
in order of what I would prefer, is 1) fuel pump, I have a spare, 2)
collapsed fuel line, can have one made up or 3) injector pump, I am sure Cat
right up
the road can get one. What is anyone's take on it?

tom this might not work, but it's simple to check.
run a new hot wire to the fuel shutoff valve on top of
the engine. also a new ground wire. I belive that this
valve must remain activated {hot} for the engine to
run. if it looses elect. for any reason it shuts
down. I messes around for the better part of a day
when mine wouldnt start, bad ground! had 12.6 volts
to sol. but without ground, nothing! Hope its
something simple.[ met you at charleston afb last
year sept.]

Thanks for the input on the fuel solenoid. I checked the voltage at the
solenoid with engine running and only had 11.06 VDC. I should have at least 12
or there abouts I would think. There are two wires on that hot terminal on
the solenoid, how do I know which one is the hot one and what does the other
one go to.

The relay for that solenoid must? be with my other relays behind the left
front head lights? I think a pinched or pulled wire is a good guess, where as
there are bunches of wire looms that have to be pulled out of the way to get
to the Pittman arm.

Thanks for the inputs. It just seems strange to me, that the coach will run
for five minutes, then just shut off: BUT will restart immediately without
any hesitation.

Tom,
Someone may have suggested this before...is there a circuit breaker that
is tripping? A weak circuit breaker will get hot, break the circuit
within, and you have no 12V. Then it cools down, resets, and you have
12V. Good luck.

Tom I belive that the top wire is the hot wire and the
bottom wire goes to ground. I ran a wire direct from
my ig switch and ran the ground direct to the top of
the a/c compressor, just an easy place for it.
bypassed all relays and cb between the solonoid and
the hot wire an the ig switch. as old pilots use to
say {to hell with AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL, go direct!}
my 80 only has only one hot wire to the sol..
