Spare Parts

-Gardner:

I live in one of those neighborhoods that does not allow BB,s, boats
etc. That is nuts. Our home is for sale. When it sells we are going
to the RV park and sit in the BB. I take my bus to a hanger at the
local airport to do minor maintenance. I do a little maintenance at
the park but try not to stir them up. I have a friend who owns a
fleet maintenance service here. He performs general engine, chassis
and brake service for me. Overall, we have very few problems.

Unlike some of the posts, I carry a spare air bag for each axel,
minor electrical parts, spare "o" rings for the head, a spare fuel
pump for the genset and a tool box.(Built in by BB.) I figure if I
carry these items I will never need them. I hope my maintenance
takes care of the rest. I do not carry a tire wrench or tire. They
are to damn big for an old man to change. I cannot say that I will
never break down. However, if I do it will not be because of poor
maintenance practices. So far so good.

Leroy,
Actually my town has the same rules. I located a storage facility
that charges $62 a month to park in a fenced in area. My street is
narrow and if I parked a Bluebird in front of my house too often it
would not take long for someone to lodge a complaint. I couldn't get
it in into my driveway, it's too short. I have a friend with a
service station where I could do some work, but most likley would not
be able to leave it there for extended periods of time. I agree that
most chassis work should be left to the pro's. Even though I could do
most things, I haven't the experience to know the pitfalls. I
wouldn't want to have a brake failure due to my ignorance. That's a
lot of weight to try to stop by dragging your feet!

In reality I am nuts to entertain the idea, but you only live once
so you may as well enjoy it. I know the two happiest days in a boat
owners life are the day he buys it, and the day he sells it. I hope
that isn't true for Bluebirds.

About the boat ownership comparison. There is no comparison. For nearly 10
years, I owned a 32 foot Warlock Offshore speedboat with 525 Volvo Penta.
Great fun, really fast and can make you dead in a hurry. It was by far the most
expensive toy I have ever owned. The BB is slow and easy.

Different filters for fuel, genset and engine. Soldering iron, butt connectors, wire 12-18 gauge and a variety of wire connectors. Anti freeze. ATF Multimeter Spare fan motor for Kool O Matic fan. One mercury switch. One Bosch Relay. Assortment of stainless screws. Assorted zip ties. Dremel tool to clean connectors if needed. Spare low beam head lamp. Spare solenoids for air step valve. Spare pump for Webasto. Spare fuel nozzle for Webasto. Spare electric fuel pump for the genset. Assorted blade fuses. Belt for the Splendide. O ring kit for the Microphor tank. I think that is it. few parts exist that are Wanderloge propriortary. in five years I have
never purchased a part from them and I live 14 miles from the west
coast home facility. and 3 miles from the owners (somehow I bet they
stand in line as lien holder??). The diagrams and prints may be
useful to those who can read them. but most folks who understand the
prints can trace a problem out anyway. Everything on the bus is a
component and for sale by sources who sold them to BB. the windshield
on your 94 is avaliable from the bus company for around $200 per the
side.

I agree with GREG re spare parts sources...Wanderlodge bought them
from some supplier probably available to us with a little digging.
Perhaps Randy can use this excuse as a bargaining chip in getting a
