3208 Oil Leak
Hi All!
Just wanting to know if there are any givens for an oil leak which leaves oil in the valley of 3208T? I have no valve cover leaks, although it would appear to me that oil would have to leak up hill for a cover leak to be doing this. After a 500 mile run the other weekend, I noticed about a 1/8 cup of oil in the valley. I also would like to know how much consumption is acceptable for a 100,000 mile BB. Seems that I'm burning quite a bit, however I don't see a lot of blue in my exhaust, 'cept for start-up. I figure that's coming from valve seals. I'll hold off on what's she's burning so as not to embarrass her. Thanks for your time. Hope to get this sorted out before my 3500 mile round trip in August. 3208 Oil Leak
Many times the fluid in the valley is fuel from the injector pump,
or fuel line leak. Check the fuel line connections at the injectors. 3208 Oil Leak
Dru, before you start pulling the inection pump or replacing hoses, be sure to
check and make sure that all the injector lines connections are tight. I am embarassed to say, I had a leak similar to what you are describing for a year. I was putting off pulling the injection pump. Just on a hunch I checked the injector lines and sure enough one was loose. No more fuel oil in the valley. Steve Anderson 79 FC 35 Poulsbo, Wa.
