Racor Information
Not sure if this has made it to the Wanderlodge Forum site, but, here
goes with an apology if you were already aware. The new Racor Drop in paper Elements have changed color slightly. There is a reason for that. They no longer fit the old Racor Housings. Racor has a free of charge spacer to be placed in the housing. The new filters are slightly shorter. Without this spacer, a large quantity of fuel bypasses the filtration process. Just thought I'd pass this on from the marine industry. Boatless and still looking for the right Bird. Dave in St. Petersburg |

Racor Information
Dave, HUH?? I did not know that. Wait could you please tell us/me more?
My personal email is cme4boats at aol. com. I would like to find out more about that. Thanks in advance for the heads up. If it's important enough for you, it's important for us...LOL. Don't want you finding out and putting that SC spin on it. LOL Paul 97wb43 MD |

Racor Information
I just got some new RaCor filters yesterday. I compared the new ones
to the old one that came out...same height, same diameter...but the bottom of the filter is shaped differently. Seems that there is a difference. I'd be very interested in hearing about it if I need a spacer or something. Scott Forman 82 FC35RB Memphis --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Scott" wrote: > > Dave, HUH?? I did not know that. Paul, I could not agree more. BUT the problem is Dave's post was much
too short! hehehe ScottB 86FC35 SC --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "boatsarefunus" > > Not sure if this has made it to the Wanderlodge Forum site, but, here > goes with an apology if you were already aware. > The new Racor Drop in paper Elements have changed color slightly. > There is a reason for that. Racor Information
Here is some more information on the Racor Change.
This only applies to the "older" 500 Series Diesel Filter Housings. A rubber spacer Part# 15424 is available free of charge from Racor by calling their tech support number 800-344-3286. I was not sure if the vintage Birds used 500, 900, or 1000 series housings. Again this only applies to the 500 series as far as I know. A call to their tech support number above might reveal any other information. By the way, their tech support bulletins # 7627 and 7566, available on their web site state that the new style elements are a form, fit, and function exact replacement for the old style elements in the 900, 1000 series. No information or mention about the 500 series problem and resolution is posted. Hope this helps to clarify. Boatless and still looking for the right Bird. Dave in St. Petersburg |

Racor Information
I believe my FC has a 900 series, but I am at work and can't check
it. Can anyone verify that FC's had 900's? Racor Information
Dave,
Thank you for the Racor information. I called the number. They will send out the rubber spacer free of charge. All units before 1997 need the spacer. Starting in August they will include the rubber spacer with the filter. Racor Information
Dave, others, I contacted RACOR today and checked with their tech
support. They advised it was only for the 500 series built before 1997 and as of August this year there will be a spacer in all new elements. So check your coaches, I have a 900 series which is unaffected. Great Catch Dave, thanks for the heads up.
