Air Bag System
Is it normal to hear air escaping from system?
Under the coach, driver's side, just behind the front bumper, is an air fitting that continually leaks air. I have tried plugging this off but the air bags didn't fill properly so I removed the plug. If I shut the engine off and don't purge the air, the front bags leak down in 30-45 min but rear stays up. This just doesn't seem normal. I'm taking the coach in Monday for some other work. Would appreciate any information on what to tell the shop folks as they are not really familiar with BB systems. Thanks! This is the vacuum generator (aspirator) for the cruise-control
system in the '79-mid'83 FC. It blows air through a venturi to create the vacuum. If it is venting constantly or frequently, you likely have a vacuum leak, check the vacuum lines at the rear of the engine. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, Alex Smith wrote: > > Is it normal to hear air escaping from system? > > Under the coach, driver's side, just behind the front bumper, is an air fitting that continually leaks air. Air Bag System
That happened with our '81FC and it had something to do with the cruise control.
I'm sorry I don't have any of the particulars as those were in the days when we were taking the bird to the BB bus shop for repairs. However, it also went down in front first even after the audible leak was fixed. As I recall though the part that produces vacuum for the cruise control was defective. I found where the air was venting and plugged it but that didn't work. Does that make sense? Good luck. Jeff, the coach is in the shop today so I'll ask them to check for a leak. The
air is coming from what looks like where another air line would be attached. Would this be what the venturi looks like? Thanks. Thanks Richard, I tried the same. And it doen't make sense unless this is just
the way it works. All this information helps. Alex Richard Hayden That happened with our '81FC and it had something to do with the cruise control.
