Dan, back off those bolts on the valve. Perhaps there is some crud on the
diaphram. You'll get some water in that compartment- so don't back off the bolts
too far. Most of the time the crud will leak out. It did on mine. There is a
rebuild kit for it and maybe Stephen Birtles has the kits.

On my return from Colorado this week I had a problem with my water
system... lifted the bed to get at the sporlan valve to tap it and was
not able to get it to work correctly.... My question is where can I get
a new one as I called Blue Bird parts and the tech Dept. and neither
has called me back.... I believe it;s the sporlan valve as it has been
giving me problems and now it won't move at all... I think its stuck
half open and half closed cause on city water it continues to fill the
tank with vary little pressure in the coach ... when I try the coach
pump ( it is working ) there is no pressure cause with the valve half
open it just bypasses the valve.... I have flicked the valve switch on
and off and it will not work.......So where can I get one ??? little
help here please DAN

Dont replace the valve! You can get a kit from Sporlan consisting of
the diaphram springs etc to rebuild it. I got mine locally from the

I believe Stephen Birtles has these valves or at least the rebuild kits. If
he doesn't reply to your original email request you can contact him at

If you can't get a response from BB, bry Parliament Coach near
Clearwater (a BB dealer). The valve is also used in many commercial
plumbing applications in case that helps.

If your tank water level is below the valve (empty?), you can take
the valve apart to see if there is simply a piece of debris keeping
it open (fairly common). The valve is O-ring sealed, will likely seal
again until a rebuild kit arrives.

Also try switching the fill valve on and off a few times with water
flowing, it might clear the debris.

Dan,

Sometimes you can take them apart and clean them out..

If not- Stephen Birtles has the rebuild kits.

They're pretty easy to take apart. You could take it apart and clean
it up to see if it stops sticky. Someone on this forum sells a
rebuild kit for them--I think if you search on sporlan valve, they're
name should come up.
Sorry to hear about your engine problem.

The S valve needs pressure to close and with the system is not used
or pressurized it floats open. The works get scummed up and they
need a cleaning. For a quick fix I hook up to high pressure city,
run the outside hand wash sink and try and close the e-fill switch
off. ( others will warn you that this may cause pipe dammage and my
sporlan is a little clogged up) .

To check if the e switch and selonoid are working, turn it on, go
under the bed, unscrew the e selonoid and pick it up and down, you
should feel the magnetic pull. If all that is working simply remove
the other four (4?) screws open the valve and clean the guts with
bathroom cleaner. If you replace the valve replumb it to hold a ball
man valve also. ( the man valve is good to use on the road if the
sporlan or when the sporlan gets scummed once again)

Dan,

I bought a rebuild kit and a spare valve this spring. I went
to: http://www.sporlan.com/main.shtm, click on "Authorized
Wholesalers", enter your State, and a list of places to buy one
will appear.
