I believe the WB-40 began in 1990 possibly late 1989. The extra inches are
important to an old fat guy. LOL

Doug,

Wide bodies strted mid-1988. Check Vintage Birds website for model
year specs.

How important is quite subjective. On a PT40 it means 20 more square
feet of floor space or approximately 130 cubic feet in breathing area.
The first time we walked in a WB from our 96" it seemed like a cave.
That was helped by the fact that many of the WB models don't have the
front overhead stoarge compartments so they seem much more spacious.
Moving from 96" to 102" felt more like a foot from the drivers seat,
especially in constrcution zones with narrow lanes.

them all either. If you know, why are they called PT instead of WB? Thanks.

terms and abbreviations for Blue Bird motor homes. From the main
page, select history, then select "Wanderlodge Terms and
Abbreviations". Just above the list of terms, etc., is a list with
the highlights of WL model changes. For example, it shows that the
102" Wide Body (WB) was introduced in 1988 in 38' and 40' models.

Pete: Ok, I see the designations. Although my paperwork states WB-40, I guess
it's technically Wanderlodge PT-40 (WB) . I was advised my coach was a Royale
conversion when I purchased the coach. I see that on the list also. Thanks,

Leroy,

The 'short hand' would be to call yours a WB-40, since all WBs are
PTs (the FC was not made in a wide body). So either WB-40 or PT-40
(WB) are correct. The point of designating the model and year (in
forum messages) is that advice given/received is understood to apply
to particular models. For instance, my '95 is a wide body diagonal
aisle layout 42 feet. This layout presupposes certain features to be
located in different (perhaps unique) positions as compared to a non-
diagonal aisle model ... and it also has the Series 60 DD engine
instead of an 8V92. By using the model designation, anyone can go to
the Vintage Birds web site and look up the basic specifications.
While many BB systems are similar across years and models, some
systems are quite individualized to particular models.

I think I'll call it what my paperwork says, WB-40. I did just get off
vintagebirds and birdconnection looking at pictures of same period PT-40's. I
found some distinct differences between mine and others of the same year. Wish
I knew why the differences exist. Guess that is how it is. Thanks again,
