Sirpilla RV has a good reputation and I would not worry about being
scammed by them more than by anyone else selling a used vehicle. Of
course, that means a healthy amount of 'buyer beware'."

The above was posted by Roger Webb (?) Where is he to respond to that
post.

Maybe if we had an email address for that dealer we could inundate him
with e mails saying how this is beng discussed in a public forum and it
could affect his reputation. I would also ask for a rebuttal or
explanation.

Hello Gail,
Well you're getting helpful suggestions from a lot of folks but one suggestion I
haven't
seen so far is taking them to task through magazine forums. Dealers and
manufacturers
hate to appear unfair in a magazine and will often eat dirt to keep their image
clean. I
suggest you write to the FMCA magazine, Motorhome magazine and any other trade
pubication you can think of. When Sirpilla gets a call from one of these guys,
they may
suddenly become more cooperative. I've seen it work for lots of other folks.

What's a good guy from Niceville Fl gonna do. He needs an attorney
from Intercourse PA. Dealers are dealers their stereotype reputation
precedes them as does the reliability of a 20 year old bus. I still
think it was a deal for the right person and a 2,000.00 loss is
minimal for someone who was not able to look past the fact that the
genny would not run and was not able to prove the reason why. An old
bus is not for everyone.

I hope the dealer finds the right buyer and can return the deposit to
the wrong buyer. This is my appeal to them in a letter sent today.
I learned long ago to write long deposit contracts with contingent
what ifs. I tend to be too much of an ass and I start believing that
I should always win. I forget that 'more then fair' means it is less
than fair for the other party. The contract spells out both parties
understanding and intention the time of the deal making. I shake
hands while passing the pen.

The thing in all of this that is so cool to me is how everyone
rallied to help a forum member. What a nice group of friends

I am sorry but there is something very fishy about this whole
transaction with the 1986 FC35 that was listed on ebay as
290020747269 . It only had a reserve of $12,000 (shown in the
vehicle description) yet Gail called the salesman up and offered
$20,000. Why??????? He could have simply bid $12,000 for it and it
would have been a binding contract. Even with a bad generator it is
worth more then then $12,000. He was told it had roof airs, it did
not. The salesman told Gail (Gails words to me) that he thought the
two pods on the roof were air conditioners. The coach actually has
cruiseairs. How could any salesman that has worked at a RV sales
place that has been in existance for over 46 years have made or been
allowed to make such an error like that?

It appears to be a side bath yet is was described as having a
corner bath? The payment methods shown on the listing are also in
conflict. Sellers instruction say : winning bidders must contact us
by telephone within 24 hours of auction closing to confirm purchase
and provide a non-refundable 10% deposit via a major credit card,
cashiers check or wire transfer.
Payment methods accepted : Cashiers check (certified from US or
canadien bank) or money order cash (in person).

I gave Gail several inputs relative to the misrepresentation of the
coach right up to the day before he left to get it, yet it appears he

One more thing. Sirpilla RV now has a special program going on. It
says "you fly, you buy, we pay". Looks like Gail might have thrown
an additonal $900 away since they may have paid for his air fare. It
would be educational for all of us to hear the other side of the
story from Sirpilla RV.

Lesson learned. Dont ever give anyone a down payment on anything you
have not either personally seen or had a reliable person check
out. But most important of all please do not condemn a company like
Sirpilla RV Super Center until you have heard the rest of the story.

There is something wrong with this whole story. The phone # on the ebay
ad is not the same as Sirpilla has on their web site. The sales mgrs.
name is Karen Sirpilla not the name listed on the ebay site. The ebay
ad appears to have been written by someone who is not familiar with
RV's. For instance it states the unit has aluminim (their spelling)
wheel covers. The English in the ad is very poor. There is no reference
to Sirpilla RV. Could a used vehicle sales mgr. be running a "parallel"
business? Does Sirpilla even know anything about this unit and the sale?

However, you are correct. It is a Caveat Emptor world. Believe me, I'll be the
first to step up if someone is wronged. However, there can't be any hearsay,
and you nor I have seen the documents, and verbal agreements on vehicles don't
mean a #$%@ thing. Sooo, I won't let my mouth overload my !@# this go-round.
Just trying to help. In fact, there are liable, slander and restraint of
trade laws on the books in most states. I wouldn't think anyone would get into
that for $2,000, even if they were trying to help. With further info, I still
will be happy to help.
