QUESTION ON VIN #'S
I am trying to title my 81fc35 in Florida and am being told by the DMV
down here that it does not have the right Vin# on the Title. I remember conversations in the past that the older birds do not have the 16 digit numbers. My Michigan title show a letter and 5 digits. Can anyone shed some light on this and also if there is some documentation to verify this that can be given to the Florida DMV would be great Chuck Somers 269-929-3044 81FC35SB cfsomers@... |

QUESTION ON VIN #'S
Chuck my '81 did have a VIV # but was not being used when I bought the coach.
It can be found over the driver's head under the inside overhang attached to the sheet metal above the driver's sun visor. It is hard to read especially from the outside. If possible, I would get a digital camera picture of it so you will have a record. Dick Hayden - '87 PT 38 - Lake Stevens, WA ----- Original Message ----- From: cfsomers@... QUESTION ON VIN #'S
The DMV clerk is probable young enough to have never heard of anything
less than a 17 digit VIN#. Ask the clerk to take it to a higher authority within the DMV. I experienced the same thing registering our 1974 Bird, and it was already registered in the same state...clerk had to be informed by a higher (older) authority. Good luck. QUESTION ON VIN #'S
My 81 FC-33 is titled in Florida and has the 5-digit VIN on the
registration so it isn't a Florida DMV thing, its a local clerk issue. Have them pull up my tag, J96CFX, and they can see for themselves. QUESTION ON VIN #'S
If you have a letter and 5 numbers its the BB body number not the
VIN! If you have just 5 numbers its the Chassis serial #. The BB VIN should be in the form of 1BBXXXXXXXXX etc. Tom Warner Vernon Center,NY 1985 PT 40 At 06:53 PM 9/8/2006, you wrote: >My 81 FC-33 is titled in Florida and has the 5-digit VIN on the >registration so it isn't a Florida DMV thing, its a local clerk >issue. > >Have them pull up my tag, J96CFX, and they can see for themselves. > >Good luck, > >Tim Hannink >Fulltiming in Paradis, LA >1981 FC-33SB > >--- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, cfsomers@... wrote: > > > > I am trying to title my 81fc35 in Florida and am being told by the >DMV > > down here that it does not have the right Vin# on the Title. QUESTION ON VIN #'S
Tom, on my '77 the VIN# IS the chassis number, mine is 11100.This is
on title, registration, and insurance. SC accepted this, FL should too. Kind of like the Model "A" Ford, 1928-31, the VIN# is the number of the motor block and chassis number stamped on the frame at the front fender. If motor was swapped the title remained the same????
