Ernie,

I know you were asking Pappy about this, but thought I'd just add my 2
cents....

In snow, I just drive faster to get out of it sooner.....

Seriously,

I have been in snow a few times and I don't have "diggers" on the
rear. I run steer tires all the way around. If you are cofigured the
same, snow can be a handful. Just drive slow, no fast stops (I know we
don't have to worry about fast starts), no fast lane changes and try
to anticipate far further ahead than normal.

Driving in snow (was Re: New Bird)
I have a good friend who was a school bus driver for years in
upstate NY where he had to deal with snow all winter. He did not
like FC's. Too much weight in front of the front axle unloaded the
rear tires reducing the traction. Motorhomes may not be quite as
bad as the schoolbus version. I don't know where the fuel tank is
on the schoolbus but if we keep our FC tanks full, that's a lot of
weight back there.

School buses with chidren and trucks with cattle or horses
are not the same as a motorhome or truck load of grain. When
the load moves because you have turned the wheel you have to make
a compensation, it's like over steering or low pressure rear
tires. Kids in a school bus on snow packed roads is tough duty.
