Issues with 84 35FC
Hi All,
After a trip out to my sisters and beyond, the Bird ran great, I just had a couple of questions regarding and engine alarm light that keep coming on and off... All the vital signs of oil, oil temp, water temp, transmission temp and all levels were up to where they are supposed to be... Does anyone have an idea why this was happening??? Also a buzzer was going off from the day I first drove the Bus... I had the digital multimeter out and was checking the bus=zzer, when I put the probes on both terminals, it stopped buzzing, strange!!! Any ideas on these issues??? Suggestions... Also I put the coach in a storage facility and it is 50 miles from me now, I need to know the group size of the Gen battery, as I will have to replace it, it started to get weak when trying to start it yesterday, had to use the aux batt switch... Enough for now... TIA Sea Ya Larry 84 35FCSB NYC --------------------------------- Access over 1 million songs - Yahoo! Music Unlimited. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Larry,
The size for the generator (4 cyl Perkins) on my coach is "group 31". Yours could vary. Steve Anderson 79 FC 35 Poulsbo, Wa. -----Original Message----- From: sailor7cs_365@... Larry- my 84 35FC had the intermitten buzzer come on, also. I checked all the
gauges and just surmised that it was another gremlin in the coach. Seemed to phase out the longer I drove her. Ernie Ekberg 83 PT40 Livingston, Montana [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Hi Larry:
Your engine alarm light intermittent is usually caused by the temp sensor wire at the top of the radiator being broken or bad connector to ground. There is a major stress point on the wiring harness that goes through the frame on the drivers side. This is a common problem. The buzzer, depending on which system it is for could be the sensor, or ground, I would bet on the ground. It stops buzzing with the meter because your adding a resistance through the meter and supplying a floating ground, so to speak with the added resistance. On Bird's, when things are going haywire with systems, one checks the grounds, then when nothing is found, one checks grounds, then you repair it by fixing the ground. Mine was doing the same thing when I bought it and a buzzer wire was cut. I
assume the alarm light and buzzer are connected. All my levels were fine also. I stopped doing it after a while. I have no idea why. If you find the source of your problem, let me know. I anticipate mine will reoccur. Lary,
Turn up the stereo, it will drown out that annoying buzzer. Where is your storage facility? I am in New Jersey and have a 15 or 20 mile trip to my bird, near Greenwood Lake. I am not sure where you are in NYC, but this one is about 12 miles from the thruway/287 interchange. $68/month, security cameras. The owner also runs an excavation business out of the location so he has some skin in the security game as well. It is outdoors, however. Larry:
I don't know anything about FC's but I bet that bus=zzer will not bother you again. It is most likely fried. Is the light still blinking, ie are the light and buzzer related. Just a thought. Please do not turn up the stereo it could cost you a bundle. Larry,
Mine isn't gated, but the main office building has a living facility so I think there is someone there most of the time so it's pretty safe. I haven't had any problems. They also store 18 wheeler truck tractors and boats plus the normal storage facility buildings. I am beginning to think I should store it closer to home since I seem to bring it home every weekend to work on it. The mileage adds up and with towing the Jeep I think I am spending more than the extra cost of local storage.
