Mike, Sue, Nice looking Bus, I like the colors and graphics. It looks
long.
Mike is there an issue with the Microphor? It must have been quite a
hike just to take that pic.

Greg,

Thanks, we like the colors also. Green seems to be an acquired taste.
Folks seem to love it or hate it. It may look long, but it felt even
longer doing those very tight steep downhill 180 switchbacks on the
approach to Boulder Dam.

Yes, it was quite a hike up some rough terrain to get that shot, and I
did have to go when I got back down, but I get emails all the time
from members saying they enjoy the Bird of the Week pictures that have
scenery in them so they can see places they have never been to but
might want to go to. That's what prompted the hike. Hadn't seen a
car in over half an hour up to that point, but then about 6 passed by
as I was trying to get the pictures. It looks like I was on the road,
but I was actually in a pull off lane for a scenic overlook I couldn't
fit in.

We got tons of desolate scenic pictures on Route 66 (saw 2 cars in two
hours) and other out of the way places.

Mike, I understood the road across Boulder was
closed to motorhome traffic, guess not huh? I
enjoy the scenery shots as well, thanks for the
picture. Coming in to Las Vegas from Boulder
at night is one awesome sight.

Bob,

On the way up, I was told Boulder Dam was closed also, so we went over
to Laughlin and then up. Saw *many* RVs on that route that must also
have been told it was closed. I would not recommend that route as the
trek over the hills from Kingman, AZ to Laughlin, NV is 7% twisty
downhill for 13 miles as memory serves. The "scenery" is not worth it.

On the way back from Las Vegas I went the extra 11 miles from the 95
turnoff to show my wife Boulder Dam, fully assuming we would have to
turn around after visiting the dam. Before we got there we got
shunted into a Homeland Security inspection area. I explained to the
private security guards we were planning to park and take the toad to
visit the dam. They said "NO problem going on. We just need to ask
you a few questions and inspect all the storage bays and the interior
and you can go across." Questions included standard where you from,
where you going, any explosives, weapons and/or ammo on board?
Inspecting the interior consisted of one guard standing in the
stepwell talking to my wife while I opened all the bays for the other
one to glance in. They never even looked at the Jeep interior
(probably not good security tactics). Less than 5 minutes and we were
on our way to the dam.

Much better than going back down to Laughlin!

---NO problem going from Kingman AZ over Hoover DAM....the sign past
Kingman says NO buses etc. and it appears to discourage big rigs and
most RVers think it means NO RV's but that's not true....
A couple months ago we went from Kingman t over Hoover Dam, no
problem, just a few Homeland gaurds inspecting our rig to see if we
are terrorists. I also took the road to Laughlin with my old
77FC33 five years ago..no exhaust brake......NEVER again...that hill
down to Bullhead City is NOT for a BIRD with NO exhaust brake..trust
me...if you do take it, make sure your pacemaker battery is FRESH!
