eBay83 FC for 50k

[Gardner Yeaw]

Enough already!

Someone just gave all of us a good excuse to raise the price of
our own when it comes time to sell. This is a good thing for the
resale value of a bird. Like when the neighbor sells his house for
ten grand more than you thought it was worth, now you can use it as
a comparable.

Congratulations to the seller, he really lucked out on the
bidding. Congratulations to the buyer, he got a very fine looking
coach. As we all know, you can rebuild the mechanics, but a truely
physicaly perfect bird is a rare comodity, so stop being jealous and
welcome the buyer to the community. Let's hope he continues the kind
of care the coach has seen in the past.

I cant resist...I have been pretty good at sales most of my adult
life but I am willing to concede here.

Tom, Crusademan, here is one for ya. A business deal.(can't resist
hey some are better than me!) I have our coach for sale, RUBY (pic on
the forum somewhere) it is an 86 three yrs newer, 87K on the mileage,
Rear Bath, (we love) spent over 17k in the last 15mos in upgrades,
new rubber, new Powertech, yep on the valve adj, fuel rack, new CAT
heads, new levelers, new air gov, new fridge the money on upgrades
and list list is much longer since ownership, ALL DOCUMENTED.
Original Imron (retail $300+/gal), not sure about the 83 pics. A new
Earl Scheib paint job makes good photos as well can't say much for
the paint longevity though.

I would be willing to cut you in on the deal, yep pay YOU a fee,
commission whatever. IF YOU CAN PULL THAT OFF AGAIN yep pull that
rabbit one more time or school me on how to do that. A couple of
forum members have seen our coach and can give an honest assessment.
If interested contact me cme4boatsataoldotcom. OR maybe you could add
it to your charter fleet. I have a coach that would compliment the PT
in the charter fleet.

Hmmm lets see what that does. I too love to see the FC market take
such an upturn.

Hey Bob, You did us all a service by starting this discussion, if
nothing else it has been entertaining. I have been a member for a
good while but hardly ever post. I am one of those people that can
do a little something but cannot tell you how I did it, so I lurk and
learn.
Tommy Bowling is a personal friend of mine and I can tell you that
there is nothing hidden here, nothing intended to mislead a buyer.
The buyer is a very fortunate to be dealing with a man that he will
give him the straight about this motorhome. Time will bear this out.
Tom I was with Tommy when we met you at the Birds Nest year before
last. You gave us the info about the headlight upgrade, which we both
did to our coaches. Your ideas and information has been a big help to
all of us. We had been in South Florida for the winter and were on
our way home. This kind of speaks to the mechanical condition of
Tommy's coach. In about two weeks we are planning on heading South
again and if he had not moved up to a 95 I would be following that
blue 83 down I75. I believe that its George's 88 that has been
garaged 13 years. Tommys coach has been under cover its entire life
except when in use.
Al, Tommy bought his 95 from a gentleman that lives in Louisiana. I
don't know his name but he is fighting for his life in a battle with
cancer. You may know who he is.
I know this is off the subject and may be of no interest but my son
is a Kentucky State Trooper here in Pikeville. He just called and
told me that Trooper BJ Caudell was struck by a car tonight while
working a wreck and has been seriously injured. I have attended many
car shows with BJ and his father. Yesterday he called and told me
about a 45 year old Trooper died with a massive heart attack. Less
than a week ago they buried a fellow Trooper that was killed in a
auto accident while responding to a complaint. Needless to say my son
and his fellow Troopers are hurting tonight. Those of you that
believe in prayer send one up for BJ and the famlies of the fallen
Troopers.

As a professional auctioneer and a certified appraiser of equipment I
will say one sale for an enormous amount does not justify the same
high value to every other bird sold. Value is based on condition and
the willingness of one individual willing to pay the purchase price.
The asking price does not justify the value, it is the quality of the
product being sold and the willingness of the buyer to pay an
acceptable value. I know of one 1978 bird in Ohio which has been for
sale for nearly 8 years and the owner has it listed all over the
internet for 52K- 58K which is nearly double of what that particular
bird is worth. We all know it is not worth the seller's asking price
to most of us but someday someone may come along and pay the seller
an acceptable fee and pay an additional 20 - 30K in reconditioning.
Maybe the bird which sold on eBay met all the criteria the buyer was
looking for and that determined the purchase price. When it comes to
BBs they are like real estate in that there are no two exactly
alike. I have looked at a dozen or so birds in the last 8 years and
some worth the asking price and some weren't. I'm still looking,
wanting and wishing and I know I will find my bird when the time is
ready. The matter of fact is I have found the bird of my choice but
the seller is not ready to let it go. So I will wait a while longer.
As for Ebay is concerned or any type of auction value is based on
what the buyer is willing to pay not what the seller wants. I've
seen dozen of birds on Ebay with a final bid of what I thought the
bird should sell for but the seller thought their bird was worth
more, and I have seen the same birds on there over and over again.
