comparable to Blue bird, I suspect that you would probably be

How many Newell, Fortravel and Monaco's have you owned? Oh wait you LOOKED at
some so you are now a self-proclaimed expert!

The Newell is just as good or better than the Blue Bird in all aspects.

Having owned both and doing my own maintenance I am happy to set you straight.
Lets have your list of the better qualities of the Blue Bird compared to the
Newell.

Time to take a Red an mellow out. I noticed you excluded Foretravel and Monaco,
because apparently they do not compare to Bluebird or Newell. It's like
comparing apples and oranges, right? That's what I'm think'n>

I personally like Newell but as a BB owner I have found factory support to be
more than adequate. I'll take that anyday. I cannot speak for Newell. How
bout you?

I certainly did not mean to start a pi%%ing match on this...and I
completely agree - there is a difference in the coaches I listed,
with Monaco at the one end.

BB and Newell are fine coaches and the tops in my book - that said,
the one thing I like better about Newell is the simplicity in design -
which means simplicity in tracking down your problems. BBs are not
simple which means there are always problems. Will last forever, but
they are complex.

As for the CC and Foretravel - they are solid coaches. In the mid-90s
they are well built, solid and forgiving to work on. What I do not
like about them is they are fiberglass - I much prefer the Newell alum
sides or BB steel.

To be honest, the biggest draw against the Newell is that in my price
range, they are all DD two-strokes....which three years ago I would
not have thought twice about, but now, I am concerned about a rig that
I will not be able to sell in five to ten years with the price of fuel.

Unfortunately - being in the military, I have to look at ALL purchases
as, "what if I have to sell tomorrow" since I can be relocated and or
deployed at near any time.

Again - the info you all provide is good and thought proviking - and
that makes me a better buyer...and I thanks you for that.

I excluded Foretravel and Monaco because I have not owned them and don't
consider touring a coach enough to make a fair judgment of quality or
craftsmanship. I have never seen a Foretravel and the Monacos that I have seen
'appear' to be stick and stable design.

I can say the Newell support is as good as Blue Bird. With the move of Benny I
would say Newell support may be better now.

Yes, I still own the Newell. All are welcome to see my coach anytime, there is
always cold beer in the fridge.

Matt sounds like a nice person with a great young family and I think
he got good advice on the thread. I also learned that there is some
methods to repaint laminates and wise advice to just live with the
coach for some time before you change a thing.

Your issues with your purchase dissonance stand as tribute to the
superiority of the Bluebird product. My team analogy may hint to the
pride of brand loyalty and a bias in evaluating brands for Matt. If
you are going to Quartszite we can find a tree and determine a
winner. BUT I think a brand challenge thread would end up on
Wonderlodge_all and we would be reduced to angered RV'ers with the
same obsolete Detroit engines.

If it helps I saw the pics of your bus and it is very nice. Aluminum
is bringing good money nowadays.

The advice Matt received is based on experience and that is what makes it
useful. I am surprised that no one suggested recovering the laminate with
another layer of laminate. This does work and gives excellent results.

I agree that living with the coach for a least 1 year is beneficial. During the
first year I owned the FC33 I realized more space was needed along with
different sleeping arrangements for the family and that I desired a pusher with
more power. The time and investment of making these changes to the Blue Bird
were the catalyst that prompted the move to the Newell.

You misinterpret my desire of fact based discussions for dissonance. The fact is
I am very happy with the Newell and am willing to provide the reasons, compared
to any RV. If you think you have the market for Brand loyalty then you are
naive.

The willingness of members to share their experiences is what makes this forum
successful. There is a very nice forum for Newell owners at
http://www.newellclassic.com/ that I am a member. This site is similar to the
WOO site that I am also a member. The truth is that the Wanderlodge forums have
a handful of members that offer help and share experience frequently and the
Newell forum is not at this level yet. I am happy to learn what is good and not
good, but I do require more than blind faith.

Matt sounds like a nice person with a great young family and I think
he got good advice on the thread. I also learned that there is some
methods to repaint laminates and wise advice to just live with the
coach for some time before you change a thing.

Your issues with your purchase dissonance stand as tribute to the
superiority of the Bluebird product. My team analogy may hint to the
pride of brand loyalty and a bias in evaluating brands for Matt. If
you are going to Quartszite we can find a tree and determine a
winner. BUT I think a brand challenge thread would end up on
Wonderlodge_all and we would be reduced to angered RV'ers with the
same obsolete Detroit engines.

If it helps I saw the pics of your bus and it is very nice. Aluminum
is bringing good money nowadays.
