Satellite Receiver Hookup

[Curt Sprenger]

I wired from the satellite to the Direct TV receiver..from the DTV
receiver to a new splitter with gain control...from the splitter to the
3 TVs (rear, forward, bay). Works great. The old BB stuff gave a fuzzy
picture.

Jack the switch itself is very simple with two inputs , one from the
rear cable tv line coming from the same small compartment that the
shore line power receptacles are housed, the other from your rooftop
TV antenna. The output of the switch goes to the amplifiers etc and
then to each wall outlet for your tv, one near the passenger side
wall in front, one to the front backup/tv monitor and the other to
the rear bedroom.
I dont use the one from the rear cable tv input so removed the
connector from the switch and connected the new cable running from
the satellite receiver to it.

Tom,

Go to Radio shack get a switch box that can handle multiple
inputs/outputs.


Inputs to switch box from each source (Satellite,Cable,over air dish)
would be as if they were going to tv. Instead they will go out by
coax to switch box. Outputs will go to each set or vcr from the box,
you can use (in most cases) the old coax wiring. The switch box
allows you to switch on each set between feeds. Mine has several
buttons for each appliance (tv or vcr) to choose between the sources
(satellite, cable, over the air dish). This is very useful if
signifigant other want to watch Wheel of Fortune and you want to
watch the Playboy channel.

I removed the switch box and treat the sat as if it is the prime
input. The one TV is treated asif it is the only TV and the other
sets are hard wired monitors (every set is tuned to the same
broadcast). Direct TV now has a air anteni input on their box. The
box has input for other source of input. And you can chose for the
source via the remote clicker. They also have a new box that does not
require line of site and the box can be hidden. I tried to setup
my 'table-top Campword Porta dish'in a RV site that had a tree
blocking my automatic sat dome but the experience was not a happy
one. I now use a chainsaw for those situations
