Summer travels
So who's going where this summer? I'd like to go someplace interesting this summer. If we're going to come down from the hinterlands, we can travel in essentially any direction. Where are you guys headed and what's the draw for that destination?

Thanks!

Brenda and I will be traveling to Montana to our oldest grandsons' high school graduation. He has a scholarship to Westminster in Utah. We are proud grandparents.

RE: Summer travels
Sally, the pups and I are headed to the Grand Canyon and southern Colorado with some good friends from Ohio the last 2 weeks of July. We plan on taking my first ever 2 week vacation and having a great time. This will be the longest trip as "empty nesters" and we are certaintly excited.

RE: Summer travels
Ernie,

Montana is always a great place to go. Good scenery.

Bruce & Sally,

The canyon is a place I could go a whole bunch of times. Williams, about 60 miles south is a great place to stay, if you don't want to stay at the canyon. The railroad RV park is pretty good and taking the train up and back is quite enjoyable. You can easily walk to downtown from there. The other in town RV park is older, not as fancy, nor expensive. The KOA is across I40, so you'll have to drive into town. It's also a little small. Tough to beat the canyon, though.

Ed,

I haven't been to Sturgis since the 90's. There's certainly great riding all over the area there.

Bob,

Where do you park when in Denver? The one time I've been, I had fun; but I wasn't in the bird. I have a tough time picturing anyplace close with enough space.

So where are the rest of you going?? You can't be staying home!!

RE: Summer travels
Seems I don't do any travel that isn't children related. It's either a trip to Disney World or to my folks in Harrisburg Pa with a side trip to Strasburg to take in some Steam (Locomotives, that is). This summer will be no different. While I'd love to make a b-line to California wine country and just hang out for 3 months, I don't think my little ones could handle 6 days on the road. Instead, I'm lobbying hard for a trip to Durango Colorado for, what else, Steam! Smile
