Their's a compound called Flitz that is advertised to clear up yellowed and
clouded headlight lenses...I've never used it, but maybe someone else here on the forum has. Kevin M YL CA 86 38 PT ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. I am going to change the plastic headlamp assemblies because of sand, and rock chip damage, along with yellowing that I can not clean up successfully. I can see the body panel below and aside the lamps sem to be removeable. Has anyone removed these lamp assemblies? Fred, they look very similar to mine, start at the bottom. Remove the
bumper, then the shroud above it. Open the generator compartment as far as it will go, and you will see the mounting assembly. The corner light and both headlights are mounted in one sub-assembly. I sanded mine and re-polished them, but was only able to reduce the yellowing by about 60-70%. I konw that they have a special compund that is supposed to clear up yellowed
headlamps. I will try to remember that name and email it to you Jim Riordan 88 WLWB XXV Stuart, Fl. joewalton2003 Fred, they look very similar to mine, start at the bottom. I failed to mention that I used the headlight refinishing product and they were
definately better and was pleased completely but after a summer in the desert the last finishing chemical that was applied turned into little flakes and made the lamps have a crackle finish. I tried sanding and polishing them again with a little success, but the pits from the sand and rock chips made it impossible to refinish to satisfaction. That is the reason for replacement.Desert living does that to these front ends. When I get them changed, I will use the 3M film to protect them, maybe. The lamps are 88-91 F150 and Bronco. Fred & Jeanne Hulse Morristown Arizona 1997 Wanderlodge WLWB41 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
