Roadside assistance

Coachnet. Never had to use them, but other have and they don't try and send
a pickup tow truck to "tow" the birds.

I use Good Sam, $80 per year, seem to understand 'big rigs. Had two
instances of needing tires changed on the road. Took a bit of time (one on a
holiday, the second late at night), but well worth the cost of membership.

Last May, I sent in my $79.95 and two weeks later my 1980FC31
creampuff dropped a transmission in Ft. Stockton, Texas. I got towed
over 110 miles to Odessa, Texas to Alison dealer...total bill was over
$1300.00..they paid it!

Bruce's point about changing an unmounted spare is correct, with Good Sam at
least.

In both cases that I mentioned in the previous note on this subject, they fie
ld mounted the tire to the rim at the side of the road and at a parking lot.
Good Sam also found me a tire the first time, as I carried no spare in
the beginning. I paid nothing extra (other than the tire & giving each guy a
$25 tip) in either case.

In both cases the guys who came to change the tires probably didn't weigh
much more than the unmounted tire by itself. It was amazing how they
accomplished the change with levers and jumping on the tire. One change was
well
worth the cost of Good Sam.

I don't have experience (nor do I want any) with towing, which may be a
whole different ball of wax.

Coach-Net in February and am now wondering if that is a good idea

I just got the Coach-Net member benefit guide along with my cards and
noticed what I believe is an important notice on page 5.

Mechanical Defects And Improper Maintenance

" In case of mechanical disablement due to mechanical defects or
mechanical disablement due to a) improper maintenance, including but
not limited to, use of alternative fuels or improper fuel, improper
servicing or draining of fuel separator, failure to maintain the
battery during storage and prolonged periods of non-use, or b)
fire,flood and other natural disasters, explosions, riots, and acts
of terrorism, Coach-Net shall assist you in finding assistance, for
your vehicle but all service provider fees and other costs related to
towing or other roadside services shall be at your expense".

Don't know exactly what it means yet....does anyone else?

filters due to people running WVO in diesels, and jump starts after
winter storage.

Over the years I have had both Coach Net (FMCA) and Good Sam. This is a
competitive business and you will not find much difference between the
2 companies. A search on Rv.net will bring up some negatives on both
services. Most users are satisfied. The only thing I would note is
either service will cancel your contract or refuse to renew if you have
a lot of problems. I can understand that caveat. One thing a lot of
people do not know is that both services will change your flat tire
even if you have an unmounted spare. There is a very small fee for
mounting the new tire to the rim. Cheap insurance.
