Aqua Magic Toilet
Can anyone tell me how to get at the mounting bolts on an older Aqua
Magic toilet? It's in very good condition but leaks from the back when flushing. Should I upgrade? Keith 84FC35 |

Keith:
You will need a long blade screwdriver, a long 3/8 drive extension, 1/2 socket and open end wrench. Turn off the water, press down the foot pedal and use the screw driver to hold it in place, that should allow you to get to the front nut. with the seat up, there is a removable plug on the left side near the rear, remove the plug, then useing the extension and socket you can remove the rear nut. up inside there is the input water hose with a clamp, remove the clamp and hose and that should allow you to pull the unit straight up. Sounds like the vacuum breaker is leaking, I would replace both the vacuum breaker and the inlet water valve, then re install. Keith,
I had the same problem, the cost of parts was pretty expensive and you still have a 23 year old toilet. I decided to upgrade to a new Aqua Magic Style Plus China Bowl Toilet, new in box with three year warranty. Ordered from "RV Exit [dot] com", $175.00 plus $19.95 S&H. Received two day shipment. Wife much happier with the home look as compared to the outhouse look. No offense intended. And none taken. I agree and may just do the same thing. But if I
can repair the old one, as in a loose connection or something, then I will for the short term. But eventually I will upgrade because I like the porcelian as well. It just looks better. I wonder though if there is a space problem? The bathroom in the FCSB is a little tight? Keith.
the entire lower mechanism is avaliable includes all seals , valves and the pedals, about $100.00. some use the replacement part as not to make modifications to the back wall and floor, A replacement china bowl is nice. The Thetford Bravura is a universal replacement for older toilets. It is not china. Bill 88 FC --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Keith Strehle" > > And none taken. Aqua Magic Toilet
Keith,
I'm a big fella and it was very tight getting the old one out, plus I have two left hands and only one works properly. With the new toilet the mounting bolts are like the home units easy to get to and more open around the base to work. I have cabinets behind my toilet and had to take off the mirrored doors and cut the doors and mirrors off about 3/4 inch. I did not cut off the piano hinge as it does not show. I had to turn the toilet mounting flange to match the bolt pattern of the toilet. I added a cut off valve in case I ever needed it. As my Daddy always said remember to measure twice and cut once.
