Electrical relay under sink 84FCSB

There are four 110v outlets in my 84FC that don't work. Three of the
outlets are under the sink on the outside wall. I traced the problem
to what appears to be a relay under the kitchen sink. The relay looks
like a junction box with a brown bakelite cover. When I close the
relay manually I get power to 3 of the outlets. Two under the sink and
one next to the toaster compartment. The fourth, also under the sink,
shows nothing.

Is the relay an old school form of GFI protection? How do I correct
this problem?

Nope don't think so Keith.
That relay could very well be the one from the rediline generator.
Sounds like that relay is not working, as it pulls in when there is 120 volt
available from the load center.
In the normal state, it is deenergized, contacts closed from the rediline.
You do not need that type of relay either, purchase one that is rated for 120
volts on the coil and contacts are rated for 30 amps . It also appears to be a
DPDT.

That relay is from the rediline days. The relay should be electrically held
closed when on shore power or gen set. The open when no shore or gen set.
This allows all to be hot when on shore or gen set, or when open it has the
potential to be hot from the rediliine for the ice maker and small wattage
items. One other plug may be on that same circuit and that is in the bath.

So the relay should have power on the coil when on shore or gen set. Start
troubleshooting the reason why the coil of the relay is not pulled in and
go from there. Or at least that is what I would do.

Thanks Ralph. I'm not familiar with rediline but the outlet in the
bath is hot. Of the three outlets under the sink. Two go hot when I
close the relay. These outlets feed the Konstant Hot, the piezo
igniter for the stove, the ice maker, and a small space heater under
the sink.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this relay?

Keith- look in the forward curb side outside compartment. Behind a black
metal louvered panel is where the rediline is supposed to be. i believe that
panel is held up by 2 screws. Tell us what you find.

The rediline works when the engine is running and the generator is off and
you are not plugged into shore power. I don't think I had a switch on my 84
35FC

Hi Keith:

With shore power off, remove the brown cover on the relay junction box
under the sink. Remove the extender ring on top of the 4 inch box. Apply
shore power, and with your meter set to volts AC check the black and white
wires for 120 vac at the bottom of the relay, these wires cascade up to the
relay coil. If you have power, then it is safe to say the relay coil is bad
and needs to be replaced. I know that your going to find 120 vac there
because you manually push it and you have power to the plugs, but best to
check incoming power anyway so it becomes a "known" rather than a "think."

Now you know the relay needs replacing.

Thanks Ralph, I don't believe I have a rediline generator? I can't
seem to find any switches that refer to rediline. I called Bluebird
and the guy told me it was an option. So maybe it's not there. But
why the relay then? And it doesn't explain why the outlets don't
work.

Keith,

With or with a RediLine, Sounds like the relay is defective.
The AC power closes this relay to power up the missing circuits.
You can replace the relay or wire past it.
Just remember you or someone may want to install an inverter
in the future.
It is usually best to repair or replace as designed by BB,
