Well my backup monitor has decided to release some of that magic smoke
that they pack in there:}

I just dumped a ton on this coach and new tires, so do not want to run
out right now and replace the system with a whole new one. Does
anyone have a orignal monitor that they pulled to update that would
like to sell it to a good home?

I saw a monitor system at Costco. It is wireless and don't know how well it
would work in our steel coaches.

Michael,
I know the "when will it ever stop" feeling you're having. However, I think you
can find a
replacement that's not all that expensive. Our coach didn't have a monitor when
we
bought it and I installed a "Voyager" black and white system for a pretty
reasonable price.
Camping World has them on sale right now for $370. Fancy color systems will
cost you a
lot more and I've never felt the need.

See you at the Blazing Star rally next weekend!

Check out the colour systesm at http://www.rvcams.com . The 70CHNV is what I
installed. You can use your existing coax cable with Radio Shack adapter.
Around $400

Those were discussed on the AllAboutRVing list a few weeks ago. Many
were satisfied with it. I think there might have been a similar model
on sale at Walmart as well. Read the instructions carefully, though,
as some of the low-cost monitor systems are intended for intermittent
use only. (i.e. to be used for backing up only; you can't use it as
an always-on rearview mirror.) Of course, none of those who wrote
about these systems had an all-steel coach.

I will observe that the wireless connection to my supplemental
braking system in my toad seems to work just fine, all steel coach
notwithstanding. I've got the aerial located near the driver's side
window.

I found a site that sells monitors cheap, not sure about camera
prices as I have not been pricing them at this time. But I know
they have cameras that can be switched so they reverse the image or
display it as normal. The url is: http://www.mymobilevision.com

Michael

I had a similar problem, I bought a black and white tv from Walmart
and then hooked the cable feed that went into the "chassis" from the
camera - mine was coax, and fed the new 12 v TV. I now have to turn
on the old monitor for the camera, and the new TV which sits on the
dash - but it works well for me

Michael, are you still in the market for one of these? I am thinking
about replacing mine with a new color display. If so, my old one will
be available. It still works good.
