Newbie with warning buzzer sounding
Well I am now officially a newbie since I took delivery on the bus I
bought back in January today (the person I bought the bus from stored it for me until Spring). Everything seems fine except for a warning buzzer that sounded for about 30-45 minutes in the dash area. The previous owner said that the buzzer was sounding due to a discharged genset battery. The genset worked fine with a jump but we did not run it long enough for it to recharge. He said the buzzer would go off as soon as the battery was fully discharged but in the meantime it would sound the buzzer. All systems seemed fine so I drove it home with the annoying buzzer buzzing. It finally went off except for a few intermitant buzzes. Can anyone confirm the previous owner contention regarding the genset battery? Oil temp and pressure were in the normal range, engine temp was fine, the air pressure was about 125 PSI, the transmission temp was on the low side, just off the peg. If you got a buzzer when hitting bumps, likely a leveling jack is
hanging and the jack warning buzzer will go off when it bounces. There is also the headlamp warning buzzer, key-off/lights-on, sometimes a low-voltage from the ignition switch will cause this occasionally with the lights on. Next would be the low-air-pressure buzzer which I think you mentioned, and overhead the beepers for water-in-racor and shoreline. Steve,
Congrats on your new coach. There are a few reasons for the buzzer, I don't believe any are related to the generator battery. With an old bird though, you never know what's been changed around or added. An engine alarm buzzer (and light NOT from the same signal wire) A low air buzzer (and light which come off the same sender) A headlight alert buzzer (and light from the same sender) A leveling jacks not UP alert (and lights if you have the master switch on - not sure how they're related) If you have no light (assuming all lights work, which you can check by activating the associated system. The engine alarm should come on with the engine off and key on, may take a few moments though.) I would guess you have a leveling jack not quite all the way up or a misaligned or bad mercury switch on it. From your post, I'm assuming you have no associated light. The buzzers are all behind the drivers headlight panel. You can always open the panel and see which one is on, note the wire color, and post again to have it checked on a schematic for you. You can also change out these annoying buzzers for some friendlier chimes from your local NAPA store. One last buzzer is the Racor water in fuel alarm and light on the overhead panel. How could I have forgotten about the engine alert buzzer? Oh yes,
they're often disconnected. The low-coolant sensor is the most common cause of this one, screwed into the upper tank of the radiator on the curbside rear. Often disconnected. Check coolant level. It might have risen enough when the engine was warm to turn off this buzzer. Steve, Congratulations on your new coach. We also have a FC and love
it...Between Jeff and Gary you prolly got the most accumulative knowledge of BB out there today.. They can put you on the money with "issues" that crop up. Did the engine coolant light come on when you got the buzzer? If you have low coolant but engine temp ok sometimes when going over bumps it will sound..I know from experiance.. you might want to check the coolant level just a thought. Thanks Jeff, Gary and Scott for the tips. I will check the leveling
jacks and sensors as well as the coolant level. Both sound like likely causes. I am glad that it probably was nothing that was serious that could have caused damage to the driveline. Maybe???...I had a frequent beep (not buzzer) in our PT38 and discovered

Steve ,My check engine light & buzzer came on intermitanly & the gauges were
good. I took the old sensor unit out of the rad & took it to a BlueBird garage near me & they matched it up with a one. The new one was grounded & the old one wasn't. The guy in the parts called their shop foreman & he said it didn't need to be grounded if the rad was grounded. Sense the new one had a ground screw on it I went ahead & grounded it. One more point. My buzzer and light came on with temps. Oil and Water OK. Benny at BB indicated that the sensor on the top left side of the radiator had to be grounded. In my case the wire, which you can reach and feel from the doghouse, had been rubbing against the AC pully and broke.
