Changing out PT battery chargers
How hard is it to upgrade the PT battery chargers? It doesn't "seem"
like it would be hard to pull out the boilers and put in something modern, is there something I am not seeing? Scott Forman 86 PT38 |

Changing out PT battery chargers
Nope,
Sinple to do. Did mine and replaced with a couple from Camping World. Use the 100 amp as primary, and the other as backup. Simple to wire direct to batts. Bob Lawrence 84 PT36 Tacoma, Wa. Easy job Scott. I installed 2 of the IOTA chargers in my PT40. Just
label the existing wires & hook the new ones up the same way. You only want one of the "Smart Chargers" in your new installation. So one on your new chargers will have it, and the other one won't. IOTA has great tech support too if you have specific questions. I bought mine on eBay with the full warranty for $150 each + shipping. What amp rating do I need to use?

Changing out PT battery chargers
Terry and Scott. I just replaced one of my two IOTA55s and was told the
correct smart charger for a two charger system was the IQ4. This is a single smart box with two telephone wires. You plug one wire into each IOTA. On 24/05/07, Terry Neal > > Easy job Scott. Changing out PT battery chargers
Scott my system has two 55amp IOTAs and my battery bank consists of eight
6volt golf carts. Been working well for me for three years. I blew on IOTA because I had a smart charger on each charger instead of using the IQ4 which is designed to control two chargers. Changing out PT battery chargers
I bought the 55 amp models Scott. They work well & keep the batteries
fully charged all the time without overcharging or any measurable water loss. Changing out PT battery chargers
Thanks Rob, I was trying to recall the name that IOTA used on that
control (the IQ4) when I was writing the reply. That is the set up that I have too. One of the IQ4s & two IOTA 55 amp chargers.
