Pewee's Big Adventure
Well, It's close enough to the big day to let the bag out of the cat
I think? I am off Friday to Michigan to pick up the BB I have been lusting after for a couple years. I am purchasing the 1973 31ft FC which is the second one listed on the "Bill Board". I am both excited and of course a little nervous about this but it is time to "get off the fence post". I am very realistic in my expectations and completely open minded about the entire undertaking. I will bring it home to central Pa and then carefully evaluate what I have. I will likely need lots of advice. I looks like a great place to start from. I appreciate all the help I have been given so far. I know too that there are many among you that feel this is the wrong direction to take and I understand completely the reason for those thoughts. For me and my use I feel this is my best step into these waters. So wish me luck and of course a safe trip and I will post Sunday or Monday and let ya know how it goes. 1977, I will be the fifth owner. The third owner did an extensive
remodel on this bus and it was converted to diesel at that time. I'll know more Friday. I liked a couple things about that bus that made it a have to have for me. The rounded back end. The twin beds and the 31 ft length. It think it will be a nice one to start with. Pewee's Big Adventure
According to history on vintage birds it was 1977. Perhaps someone has
retrofitted it????? Yes, the coach looks very nice. Hopefully it is mechanically sound and has a 3208. Save those hubcaps when you go to Alcoa's. Good luck. Pewee's Big Adventure
John,
I saw this listing and thought it looked like a nice old coach. A question...why is the nose built out? I have seen a similar set-up on some 80's FC's that had the aftercooled 3208 installed, what is this one for? Scott, I have to assume that additional space for the engine was
needed. You know one of the things that has been running thru my mind is today not years ago but today why couldn't you use a pickup engine and transmission? I know these BB are bigger and heavier but isn't horse power horse power? You look at what a 1 ton pickup is dealing with pulling a big 5th wheel and I was just thinking.
