I went through a pretty rough construction site yesterday, and one of
my front moon hub caps must have popped off, cause it ain't there anymore. Does anyone know of a supplier and part number for replacements. I find lots them on the web, but I don't know which ones fit. I also need to replace a bunch of chrome lug nut covers as well. Gardner 78FC33 |

http://www.iowa80.com has all the right stuff. I got front moons and rear hats
along with nut covers from them in polished stainless. Had to get on the phone a few times to figure out which parts were right for my Alcoas. The lady who answers their phone is very helpful. She doesn't know all the answers, but she will take the time to find out. I have seen front hub covers displayed at truck parts stores,
just be certain you have the inside diameter of the wheel opening and the depth of the cover. Some are too shallow for the oil hub window. Fred & Jeanne Hulse Morristown Arizona 1997 Wanderlodge WLWB41 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Gardner,
I had trouble locating the right ones for my AcuRide rims. After trying several from the truck stops I found the right baby moons here: http://www.realwheels.com/babymoons.html You will need the opening size and the number of tabs that keep the wheel centered on the hub. As far as nut covers go, I like the chrome plated plastic ones better than stainless. The plastic ones will last two years longer than a stone! Small ones on the rear and big ones on the front. Well, it looks like my best bet is to pop the other one and
measure it up. It doesn't have any notches, but the lip is definitely less that an inch just from memory. Maybe I will just put it in the car and stop at a few truck stops and try to match it up. Since I have spent half a lifetime polishing the rims, and I'm not done yet, I just hate to see it without the shiny moon in the center. Gardner,
You need to come to Quartzsite 2008 SWBB rally. Last year a guy there power/hand polished our wheels. $10.00 each. Darn good deal. And he does the best job that I have seen. 22 of us SWBB had our wheels polished during the 2007 Q event. Come join us. Curt Sprenger 1987 PT38 8V92 "MacAttack Racing" Anaheim Hills, Calif. I don't know what your are using on your wheels. I use Simichrome Aluminum
polish made in Germany on my wheels. 17 years ago I used it to polish my 1946 Globe Swift aircraft using a black light. Anal I was, I didn't want to see any white spots. I was single with more money than good sense at the time. It is not cheap, but it works and fast. If you have pits or scratches you may need to work them over with wet carbide paper in the 1500 grit variety before polishing. Leroy,
Lots of pits. I've been using greaseless polish with a good stiff polishing wheel, Then I progress to finer stuff. I doubt the wheels have been polished since day one. A lot of truck stops carry both the hub caps and the lug nut caps.
Take the ones you have with you as a sample to match. =============================================== Pete Masterson, Author of Book Design and Production: A Guide for Authors and Publishers Aeonix1@...
