Body repair in Central Texas
Well what none of us ever wants to happen, happened, and now I am in
need of body repair. I have damage to my bumper covers, bumper brackets, lights (headlights, marker lights, valance light bar), generator slide, as well as paint damage. Nothing overly major on my coach but I am in need of a good shop to do the repairs. Can anyone give me references to a body repair shop that you would trust your BB to? I prefer it be in central Texas (live in Austin area), if not I will have to go to Houston or Dallas areas next to find a shop to repair it. Michael Brundridge 1992 WB40 Georgetown, TX |

Michael
There is a truck body repair shop just north of Buda near the 217 exit who does RV body repairs. They always have a few around their shop. They are primarily big truck repair people. I know they do a lot of the Fed Ex trucks. They have a big well equipped shop with two huge paint booths which can handle big trailers. The owner has an RV and is an acquaintance of mine. The business is Aguirrie Paint and Body, 512-312-5922, http://www.aguirrie.com. You might want to drive by in your car and check them out before you drive the bird to them. Call me if you need more information, 512-327-0928. Michael,
I would check with Texas Custom Coach in Pipe Creek Texas, outside of Bandera. They are a Prevost converter and I know they do touch-up paint work and can handle Imron paint, which I assume your StarJet paint job is. StarJet used to do the custom paint work for their conversions. 888-761-4225 is their number. Body repair in Central Texas
Mike,
Thanks for reminding me about him. I remember you mentioned that before but forgot. My father lives in Pipe Creek (actually Lake Hills, right there on lake Medina down from Pipe Creek). I will give them a call and see if they will at least allow me to bring it down there and get the StarJet custom paint work repaired if they are not able to do body repair. Body repair in Central Texas
While staying in Lockhart, I had a dent in my _car_ (toad) taken out
by Johnny & Son's Paint & Body Shop at 400 E FM 20, Lockhart, TX 78644, Ph. 512-398-5402 and I had them glue the fiberglass bumper panel on my 'bird I had pulled off in an encounter with a pile of dirt. Their service was good, rates were reasonable (especially compared to California). Overall, I was satisfied with their work. In talking to them, they've done some work on RVs, including a complete paint job. I don't think they've done anything with any Blue Birds other than mine. One caution, be careful entering and leaving, their driveways 'dip' a bit for drainage -- especially the most easterly one -- on a 42' I had the tow bar drop receiver leave a "divot" in their driveway. Didn't do much for the drop receiver, either. (Toad wasn't attached.) Take US183 south from Austin to Lockhart, turn left on FM 20 and Johnny & Son's is a couple of blocks on the right. (Use the _first_ driveway -- both coming and going.) Pete Masterson '95 Blue Bird Wanderlodge WBDA 42 El Sobrante CA aeonix1@...
