Air Pressure Problem

Hello again all,

Well now that all the planets are back in alignment (my travel has slowed
down, the weather is nice, some honeydoo's are completed) I am back to this
problem. I imagine all of you were on the right track but let me try to
describe it a little better. At the bottom of the cylinder is a small
philips head screw that secures a rubber washer to a round cap about the
size of a coke bottle cap (new style, not the old one we had to use a bottle
opener for) I put that in just in case any of you are old enough to remember
bottle openers. This cap has a triangular shape base and is attached to a
nut about 2 inches across by three small philips head screws. My question
is do I need to unscrew the big nut?

From the air dryer chalenged not so big nut.

Unscrew the part(4 screws) and take it to NAPA and get a new purge valve kit
Bendix part # BX287053 about $13.94. Install the new one.Its for a Bendix
AD-2 air dryer.

Still the same fix as the first time you asked back in March. Remove the
complete purge valve from the bottom and get a new kit and replace it. See
below the last time I posted this.

Tom,

I want to make sure we are talking about the same thing. This cylinder is
virtical, at the bottom below the cylinder itself is what I assume is the purge
valve. It has what I think is an air line going into it and also an electrical
lead. The three screws attach the leaking cap and three bolts attach the lower
part (pruge valve) I think to the cylinder. I don't see four screws anywhere.
Do you think it is the same thing maybe just a different mounting arrangement?

i lkie to remove the air dyer from the coach,take it inside,put it on a
table and work on it.i don't think that nut unscrews,i think its on there to
clock the end for hose alignment..randydupree93wb

Hi Charles:

There is a large hex looking body that unscrews from the lid. The purge
valve is in there. Some times it takes mounting the lid gently in a vice
and tapping the wrench connected to the hex below the lid to get it to
separate then it just un screws. Then you will need a large blade screw
driver and a 7/16" socket to remove the purge valve with.

Ralph, YOU THE MAN

The hex body came off with everything still mounted on the coach. Took it
apart. Some gunk inside. The O rings still look in good shape but thats not
uncommon. Will get the kit this week.

Have you replaced the air governor on the compressor under the dog
house? It signals the purge valve to dump, and is likely the root
cause.
