Does anyone know at what temperature the engine temp alarm is to come
on at?

engine waring buzzer is to come on in a 1983 3208T?

Hi,

Your Yahoo! ID looks familiar but I don't recall who you are.

The buzzer and light are activated by a 210 degree sender on the front
of the engine in the same area as the 185 degree fan switch and the
sender for the temp gauge.

What this means operationally is that the gauge and buzzer/light
should agree that the engine is HOT and the fan should be on. The
thermostats should also be fully open at 195 +/- 2 degrees, if they
are the original CAT units.

As a technique, if you find yourself in a situation where you are
unable to pull over while overheating (likely, since I've found the
CAT will not normally overheat unless climbing a fairly steep grade),
turn on your chassis heaters by switching to the winter position (you
might want to pre-position the chassis thermostat to on, and the fans
to high), your front heaters, the aux pump, and even possibly start
the generator to shed the 12volt load onto the chargers and off of the
alternator.
