Engine compartment gas lifts
Hi KP,
I wonder what BB's price will be compared to Orr & Orr. Will check both places. I will also use my existing pipe to use as backup so doesn't come down on me and make me any uglier. Expensive, but now I don't have to use Vice Grips to keep the Very Heavy rear deck. Instillation was a bit of a b****h, had to prop up the deck with a 2x4 while I RnR the old units. I have no idea of the weight rating, but I know the new ones are identical to the originals. Worth every cent. We also replaced the lifts in the battery bay and all the lifts in our interior living room compartments. > > Bob Lawrence wrote: Hi group, > I just installed Orr & Orr's 80 lb each gas lifts and it didn't make > any difference. Engine compartment gas lifts
Bob,
I got my books out of the coach. I was wrong about the 150 lb. I ordered the springs from BB on 4-3-07. The BB code is 1129428, the discription is Gas Spring, Fan22W, 240 lb. Cost $21.99 each. I will replace with 150lb ones. Bob > > Bob, > I'm pretty sure I replaced mine with 150 lbs. Engine compartment gas lifts
Bob,
I did not have any problem putting mine on used a 2x4 to hold up rear compartment. I did not have to compress the springs. Very easy install. Engine compartment gas lifts
Bob,
I replaced my gas struts on the engine compartment door and it required 190# springs. The Stabilus part # is 2988EG. They have metal ends and you should definitely get the safety clips for the new ones. Orr and Orr has them or you can visit this website- [http://www.clancey.com/documents/literature/da1a.pdf] they are on the last page of the pdf document. The ones on my '85 have a stroke of 10.2" and an overall length of 26.3". I also replaced the ball studs to be on the safe side. I had to support the door with a 2x4 in the middle while I removed the old ones. You should be able to reuse the metal saftey brace that came with the original pair.
