Makes me wonder what the heck is going on with BB?? Some
things they go overboard on and
then skimp on the rest.... At the factory, I saw the linear bearing
system that they were using on the
slides....and it looked as if a class B machinist apprentice had
designed and built the thing...all done
so they didn't have to use a tried and true HWH system. Maybe there
are better systems, I'm just not
familiar with them...I think it all comes down to the old NIH
syndrome... That's Not Invented Here...
Rather than use tested parts and systems, they'd rather use a design
that has never been beta tested,
ran through a reliability test regime, or given to an outside
mechanical design group to be critiqued.

Now I'm really going to stir the pot.....having gone through the
factory at Bluebird and Country Coach,
personally, I think the chassis and frame on the CC is better and
more stringently built. FLAME AWAY

I agree too, BB never should have called that M450
coach an "LXi". It does have many nice features but the cheap parts
and
fit and finish that are no where close to the other Birds did bring
the
price down at great expense in quality. Just my opinion.

What you say may be true except for the testing statement.
Wanderlodge does a reliability test on all new models at the Bosch
Automitive Proving Grounds. It is tested for 6250 miles and is the
equivalent of 250,000 miles of normal use. All systems are tested
and exercised after every run, including the slides. Unfortunately
we are not given the failure rate.

The coach they send, if what they told me is correct, is a stripped shell
with nothing in it.
Just the basic frame and motor, etc. Don't know if this would affect
anything, but it might.

My previous post concerned the lack of stringent QC and QA.....it was
almost as if they
were putting a kit together and each was a little different than the last....

colored LXI with matching car hauler 4 miles north of Niceville, FL on
Hwy 85 heading north. It was beautiful. Probably to new to be a forum

Looks like I'll have to get a new 12V pump for the toilet. Used the air chuck
to flush through the valve on the head of the pump and it worked (at least I
know I can flush it in an emergency). They said they rebuilt it..o ring or
something before I bought it. I don't know what's so superior about air-flush
toilets..just a salary enhancement program for mechanics.
Norcold runs 10 degrees warmer on gas than on electric. Having the burner and
flue checked but the visible piping was rusty. May need a rebuilt cooling unit.
I've heard you can get a rebuild with a one-year warranty for under 1000. Hope
so. Wonder why some had gas refrigerators and others had house refrigerators.
As for the other guy offended by my relayed comments on the LX, it's the same
thing every time. I like the LX as well as the next guy, (in fact the less
fancy interior styling suits me better than the LXi and I didn't really need a
slide) but experienced BB dealers (one was a top three in his day) warned me
about realistic pricing on BMC's and LX's (and I know they're not the same). I
like the LX at the right price. I like the BMC at the right price. I've bought
three coaches, an 84 FCSB, 86 Newell and now this 00 LXi Single Slide. My 84 FC
was built more solidly than two M380's a checked out..no joke. I ended up
paying less than 1/3rd what the original owner paid Buddy Gregg new and got a
nearly-new coach with just over 36,000 miles. If you don't call that
depreciation what is it? I've shopped a lot of BB's..BMC's and even a
Wanderlodge II. Any potential buyer of any BB badged coach up and down the line
should know the differences. To say otherwise is dishonest.
The truth is BB had a reputation as a top line company making a top of the line
coach. They compromised on the Wanderlodge II, the BMC and the LX. And if you
think they didn't compromise on the M380, ask a factory rep or line-mechanic
about their 100% recall of the early units (they prefer to call it
"re-engineering"). I'm not second-guessing their motives which were probably
well-reasoned and well-intentioned, but by producing a lower pricepoint coach
time and again, they made it harder for owners of their top-of-the-line coaches
to sell or trade. My coach is proof of that.
They promised the dealers they'd protect their owners but they went back on
that.
The truth is..you can buy a brand new LXi today for less than it cost 5 years
ago and..while it's more advanced, it's not as nice. I saw an '06 show coach
for 581K in Dallas. It had four slides and ultraleather. If this forum is
about feelings instead of facts, I'll be glad to include myself out. This
one'll probably bounce out anyway..all my others have lately. Brad
