The Bird's Nest is an "RV park" maintained by the Blue Bird
Coachworks next to the factory in Ft. Valley GA for Wanderlodge
owners who visit the area and/or are having work done on their coach
at the factory.

PS. Using all-caps in email messages is considered poor "netiquette"
as it denotes the sender is "shouting."

It's a long-term netiquette issue... If folks have vision problems
when using a computer, most email clients and web browsers allow type
to be enlarged for viewing -- and usually the text will re-wrap to
make the lines convenient to read.

On my Mac using the "Mail" program, I simply hold down the "command"
key and hit the + key to enlarge the type if something's too small
for my eyes. Most other programs offer some similar arrangement.

As a publisher and typographer (in my non-Bird life) I've read
considerable research that upper and lower case normally provides the
highest levels of reading comprehension. All caps is often difficult
to read and results in a much lower comprehension level.

Jamie,
The birdsnest is a very nice camp ground maintained by Wanderlodge next to the
plant in Ft. Valley. It is free and open only to Wanderlodge owners. It is
located inside the security fence area of the plant. It is used by Wanderlodge
owners at the factory for service and those passing through the area. Some use
it for mini rally's. There is a nice club house with a full kitchen area, baths
and laundry facilities and a tennis court. It's located about twenty miles west
of Perry, Ga. and I-75. It's a great place to stay overnight or while visiting
the central Georgia area.

We are planning to head up to the Birds Nest on Tuesday for a couple of days
before RATS, as I understand others are as well. This will be our first time
there, hence these questions:

Does it ever fill up? Reservations taken? In other words, do we need a Plan B?

need a Plan B? GET THER FIRST! Or you'll be in the parking lot.

It's actually a very nice campground, and in it's heyday it was years
ahead of it's time. Or course the motive was to cater to owners and to
sell stuff to us.

Customer service, smart buisness.

Hopefully somebody is listening!!! HINT, HINT, HINT

For any one who has not had the pleasure of staying at the Birds Nest
It is a small park in the corner of the Factory approximately 35 spots
divided into an upper level and a lower level

The upper area gets a bit more road noise from the street next door
the clubhouse is fully furnished with a equipped kitchen washer and
dryer showers and washrooms. There is a Large Fireplace in the living
room area
The park is designed for large coaches with concrete pads and fifty
amp service
24 hour security also
fully landscaped and very clean.
Do Everyone a favour pickup after yourself. I specialize in butts (I
am a Smoker my one bad habit)
And clean up after your pet and please give others some consideration
NO pets in the clubhouse not even little ones there were some words
lately between a pet owner and a person who is allergic to animal
dander. These people know who they are and no need to mention names
It is an excellent park a little off the beaten path Stores within
walking distance

Does this have a crushing affect on anyone?

They don't have any parts that I've request the last 15 or 16 calls.

I've heard that there are some folks that like to stay at the nest
for extended times, Great, Good for them, they should have to pay. If
you own any RV you can pay to camp.

I've been to the nest once, it's a great place, If you want to see
the last threads of the Bluebird Legacy better get there soon,.
Because it's in the SHADOW of it's former self, and may soon be
another fond memory

I don't understand why we can't realize that the Heydays are over.

None of the places, company's, industry's or organizations, do any of
the great, extra or special things they used to do.

Can you say ECONOMICS?

CCW is fighting to stay viable.

If you really want to help CCW,

I agree with Macy, BUY A NEW COACH!

CCW needs to turn around and keep their sights set on the future.

I would love to own a 2009 or 10 or 11 All Stainless Steel Coach, if
that doesn't get you going then it's already too late.

I managed to buy an eleven year old coach. In 10 years I'll be
looking at what they build now. By then it will be in my price range.
But that ain't going to happen unless people don't buy any new coaches

If CCW wants to support the Vintage owner I suggest that they focus
on tech support with as full and complete records that still exists
available to the public. If the costs are high then sell it like
Detroit Diesel does. Create a technology group to research the files
and record data in a usable form for example cross reference BB
numbers with OEM Mfg. Numbers, contact retired employees for that
sometimes obscure bit of inf. Create a department that will hunt down
the parts for a fee, or percentage of the cost. After all that's what
most of us wrench heads do now. In a while they would be making money
and parts would be cheaper and readily available .They would not have
to stock 20 year old parts when in all likelihood they could be drop
shipped from the manufacture

Will it survive?

I don't know.

I do know the reality is it has no bearing on me or my coach good or
bad.
