Help (Entry step stuck out)
You can unhook the air ctlider and tie both the step and air cylinder up
that does not fix but it gets it out of the way we have replacement air solenoids for the step Stephen 77fc35 --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Mike Meister" <mike.meister@...> wrote: > > Any ideas as to a quick fix? the buyer is coming tomorrow afternoon to > buy my 1980 FC 3208NA and the entry step is stuck in the out position > :-( > > doesn't move at all... > > Thanks, > > Mike > sales@... > > will be looking for a nice PT late spring :-) > |

Did you check to see if the safety switch is located just inside the door on the right side? I would run this switch both way with the door open to see if you might have it in the wrong position. Do you have air to the cylinder? either in the open position or closed? Be careful when fooling around with these steeps as they can open or close without to much warning. There is a pressure switch cable that (Kind of looks like a heater strip that glued under the steep entrance and this is a safety feature to keep one from getting his feet squashed if the steps should happen to retrace when in the open position). Mine being so old that it just shorted out and would not let the step retract. You should be able to see that unit if you look under the steeps and if you want to remove it you can go to the door switch and disconet it or just cut the wires that run to it and of course put some plastic wire caps on the protruding wire. Keep in touch as I had a mess of problems with my steps and it took me about two weeks to figure the whole thing out. And remember SAFETY!!!!! do not get your hands in between the gear that operate the steps in and out. Help (Entry step stuck out)
I concur with the warning to be careful when working on the step, it could easily cause serious injury. When I was having problems with my step I traced the issue to a loose wire on a solenoid in the overhead wiring center to the right of the door.
There is also a mechanical latch which holds the stairs out once the air pressure bleeds off. Mine was sticking and wouldn't latch correctly and hold the step out. I can imagine it can stick in the out position and not release. This latch is in the center of the step on mine and is visible once you crawl underneath. It can be felt by reaching one's hand up under the step. Again, be cautious in putting any limbs or other important body parts in harm's way. With no air pressure in the system, you should be able to release this latch and the stair should drop down and flop around.
