There are some real neat retro shuttle busses that make trips into the park, also. Last year the park reintroduced those coaches and we were in a parade from Livingston to Gardner. what a sight that was, since I was able to ride in a completely restored Town and Country woody wagon.

Huge thanks to everyone for your input on Yellowstone. Sounds like
we'll really need to buy a toad to do this right, then. I was hoping I
could just drive through in the PT-40 and pull off to see the sites,
but that doesn't sound doable - I should have known that was overly
optimistic. ;-)

It's time we bought a toad, anyway, so we'll go that route.

According to their ads, Enterprise delivers the rental car right to
you. I had planned on using them one time in a similar situation.

Actually, most of the car rental services will come an pick you up (or some such arrangement). I rented a car from Budget when I had my toad worked on at a shop in Texas. They picked me up at the shop, drove me to their office (3 blocks away) where we did the paperwork. Then I was off with the rental car.

I think I heard that there are tour vans from the gateway towns that go through the park, too. Of course, the schedule is the tour company's, but it might be another way to handle the situation.

Last year, I drove from Gardner to Cooke City on the northern end of Yellowstone. Lots of cars stopping all over the place. Now where for my coach to turn off as the narrow roads, in that part have NO shoulders. most of the time, the drop offs were 6- 12 inches- that would do a number on any coach. I'll use my toad in that park next time

Hey Ryan,

It seems I remember a question about sightseeing Yellowstone
in a BB, without a toad.

In reviewing our literature and planning another trip. A BB could
camp in any of several campgrounds, then one could hike or ride a bike.

But Yellowstone is "HUGE", the only other parking area for the day is
Old Faithful, that could accomodate a Bird. The pull-off sightseeing
parking is for cars only, If in the off season you could block about
6 spaces. during the high tourist season things get crazy, lots of
Bison, lots of people, especially from other Countries. Even the
parking at the Lodges is primarily for cars.
That is what we remember.

Hey, thanks Bill. You know, we decided to revisit Yellowstone another
time, after we've bought a toad. I've had my eye on a few different
vehicle types and am playing a "wait and see" game for the moment.
Real glad to get the information from the folks here, much better than
finding out I can't just stop and see the various sights in the BB
after I'm there.
