Front Wheel Bearings
When I pulled into Missoula, MT last night I spent a few minutes cleaning up
the outside of the bus and noticed some oil on my drivers tire. I made a note to check the level today and found it pretty much empty. I checked the passengers side and it was the same. This is odd to me only because the assemblies on both sides are new. Is this normal after two thousand miles? What should I fill them with? Front Wheel Bearings
No it is not normal, you have a leak.
The brakes might be contaminated with oil also, if there is oil coming out of the drum you have a problem with the brakes. Be sure you don't overheat brakes if oily, could cause a fire. The hubs are filled with gear oil to the OUTER ring on the face, not the inner, be sure you're looking at the correct level mark. I assume you have the clear hub covers, if so they have a line close to the edge
of the shoulder that is the full mark. They may have been overfilled resulting in the leakage observed. With the coach level the oil should be evident on the bottom of the clear cover. I'll look closer but with these new hubs, there is an obvious fill line on
the clear cover. Another thing I didn't mention was while I was hosing down the bus, when I hit the wheel with water it turned to steam (the water not the wheel (had to throw that one in!)). The wheel, not the tire, was hot. I made an appointment to get it checked in the morning. Thanks for the advice Jeff & Mike. the wheel will be hot after running all day and then stopping,the brakes make

I suspect you are the victim of an over torque on the spindle nut. Not good.
