Ebay item number 250240896513 This one is 30 miles down the road. I
gotta take a look. Yes, I know his price is pretty off the wall and I
really am not in the market but it does look pretty doesn't it? I plan
to see it next week some time and will report back. What type of motor
does that appear to be? Lots of miles on the coach and the engine as
well. The interior is striking and the entire exterior appears pretty
nice considering. Just something to talk about. I would think he is
about double the market or more? Darned nice eBay ad as well and if
you go to his photo album there are more photo's. I know its not a BB
but it's close enough to warrent a look anyways. If anyone else is
interested let me know after I test the waters and see if the fellow is
selling or just fishing.

The price is not just off the wall, it's out of sight! While I'm sure the one on eBay is much nicer, there's a converted unit nearby me that's the same model with a $20K asking price.

It _is_ a very clean bus from the photos.

However, compare it with the 1969 GMC 4107 at bus conversions magazine, classifieds. Only $25,000 asking.

It looks very nice in the pictures and it I suspect it was very well
maintained but it also has very high miles on the drive line and the
chassis. A guy also has to consider what similar money would buy in
today's Rv market. This is another perfect example of sellers who
have made large investments and are not able to see the reality of
today's market. I would not like to deal with a drive line with a
reported 200K history. If the engine and transmission were in the
100k area and everything checked out 100% (new tires,etc,etc) I could
see perhaps $40K tops if it drove like a dream and needed nothing. As
it sets now my thoughts are mid to high twenties. We know when the
asking price is $85 the seller is not going to be amenable to
reasonable offers. I am willing to waste an evening just to see it,
because it is appealing to me and its close. More later.

Last evening I looked over the GMC bus conversion. It is extremely
nice. I drove it and it was impressive. I only have the FC to
compare it to so I can't tell you how a PT or newer BB would drive
in comparison. I certainly would have to check out a newer BB before
I even considered this old GMC. I did not even talk price with the
fellow because he is at $85K so off the market. I don't like to
negotiate as was discussed some time back. I wrote him a thank you
and told him I was interested and if he would give me his best price
I would not negotiate but would consider. I think the chances of him
coming back with a "real world" number are slim to none although he
has two of these buses and this one has been for sale for at least a
year. I don't think the fellow is needing to sell this bus and he
will likely wait it out until he finds just the right person.
However, the bus is sitting in front of his home and after a year he
likely would really want to move it. So we will see. The conversion
was done with the best of everything and the bus is just as clean as
a whistle. He made me take my shoes off before entering and he stated
that has been the rule since new. I believe it entirely. It looks
like it was never used so it has some value. My gut tells me its
worth perhaps (?) $35k tops so the chances of he and I finding common
ground are really not very good but I spent a couple hours with a
nice fellow who was very proud and glad to show me his treasure.

The fellows best number is $77K. That pretty much says all that
needs to be said on that deal. It was worth a couple hours of my
time to look at it. I think he is going to have a very challenging
time selling it at that price in this market but some people seem to
have a real talent doing deals. Nice people and I wished them the
best but that one is not for ole John.
