I'll call Xantrex in the morning to see how these units compare to the
Freedom 458's. They are simular but the spec sheet on the 458's are a
little more detailed.

Clik on or paste the link below. I haven't found prices anywhere close
to these.

$600 + $70 shipping for a 3000 amp unit & $550, $65. shipping for a
2500 amp unit!

These are advertised as new, not remans.

They advertise 50 units available.

That is a great price! From the Xantrex site it looks like they are
older models.

Specs are here:

Im looking to upgrade from the Pace 1500 in my '87 PT40, do you think
these would fit in the charger compartment??

Joe,
Assuming the 40' is the same as the 38'. To fit the unit in the charger compartment would be tight. Probable not a good idea. Our '87 PT38 has two 120v lines across the top of that compartment and they would need to be removed to get the new unit in. I had to remove these lines to get the old battery boilers out. Also one of the two 120 receptacles will need to be relocated to below the outward receptacle.

I'd install the new unit in the same location as the existing unit.

two of the smaller units would give more battery recharger amps and
provide backup if a charger or inverter end failed in one or the
other. I was trying to find out if tru sine was better and more
efficient but the unit output over battery consumption math works out
the same. I just wonder if the cleaner tru-sine delivered power
allows electrical appliances lights and motors to run with less
consumption making the coach more efficient.?????

Only a few things work better with true sine-wave. In my coach the only
differences I've noted: The microwave runs full power, and I can run a UPS ahead
of my computers. I was never able to find a UPS that worked on modified sine.

Joe,
Even if it would fit, that compartment is soo dirty. Mine (Freedom 458) had already been upgraded when I got it. It is located where I believe the old 1500 watt inverter was located - 3rd compartment back on curb side, just to the rear of the propane tank compartment. This compartment isn't vented to the outside and I was initially concerned about this. However, lack of venting does not seem to be a problem.
