What is proposed for the residents while the temporary bridge is constructed, and after? My topo doesn't give very detailed contour lines, are the homes on the islands threatened by the flooding? --M.R.Kane 1985 PT40 for sale 1987 PT40 currently Sanger, TX |

Hi Mike, if the river rises above 10.5, then the water is coming over the berm. There is a cut in the roadway that is supposed to alleviate that before it gets high and dump that water into the back channel. I believe the flood of 96 put about a foot of water all over the island. The army corps of intelligent? individuals added some rock on the opposite side of the river, thus altering the natural no flood flow.
It is a Bailey bridge. The news said just pickups and smaller vehicles will be allowed across. We'll see how this scenario plays out.
