Black Valves
Hi there
Still going thru shakedown of new unit and tried to open gray and black tanks valves. I was able to twist gray water handle and with some force able to open it, but on the black, i was only able to twist about 90 degrees and it would go no further. Does this mean i am done and need to replace, or is there some way to lubricate or service to try and bring back to life. If i am don, do i replace with another Dupree Products valve, or go to camping world and buy a regular knife type valve and adapt it. Also another newbee question, where is the hot water heater located? I glanced over some post earlier but was not paying attention about water heater stuff so i apoligize about that, but i have opened every door and have not found it yet. Thanks again Paul & Deborah Potter 1987 PT38 Hesperia CA |

Hi Paul,
Not sure about the degree twist on the manual valves. Our coach has the air actuated dump valves. Hot Water Heater...is located far drivers side, under the rear cabinets. I'll be heading your way Friday early am. Let me know if you would like me to stop and assist best I can. I'm heading over to our AZ property then, and I don't have a need to be there at any specific time. Email me at "curtsprenger@gmail.com" or call me at 714 269-6187. I'll need an address to look up on Mapquest. On Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 8:33 PM, ppotter14950 <"audvid1@gte.net"> wrote:

maybe Paul has air dump valves?? Curt is the air dump switch close
to the valve on the 87pt? and Paul if they are dupree I think they are air operated and you need to build up air in the tank first to use the air valve. Sounds like the manual dump valves. Twist 90 and pull outward on the
handle to open them. Reverse when done. Water heater is hidden away under the far rear corner driver's side of the closet where Curt indicated. Greg,
Good point, Paul's dump valves just might be air dump valves. I'll know more after observing on Friday. On our coach, the air valve controls are just above the dump pipe hose connection. If you are not too busy, can you meet at Paul's in the early am Friday? I'll buy breakfast! On Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 9:42 PM, Gregory OConnor <"Gregoryoc@aol.com"> wrote:

You can New Inserts or guts for the valves
it is a five minute job to replace them all you need is a screwdriver undo 2 screws pullout the valve push in the new one and replace the screws and you are finished order online at http://www.dupreeproducts.com Stephen 77fc35 owner of dupree products --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "ppotter14950" wrote: > > Hi there > > Still going thru shakedown of new unit and tried to open gray and black > tanks valves. > > I was able to twist gray water handle and with some force able to open > it, but on the black, i was only able to twist about 90 degrees and it > would go no further. Hi Paul: Give Stephen Birtles a Call...You can replace those Dupree
paddles on the valves for < $20 each. This is a no brainer; the paddles have probably swelled and become hardened because of age and the harsh effect of the operating environment. Lubricate the new paddles with teflon grease and clean the paddle seating surface during reassembly. The two phillips head screws can be removed with a long phillips head screwdriver or try a phillips head bit on a 1/4" drive extension and 1/4" ratchet. If you plan on going to Maxton this fall, I'll help you do this project...Stephen B sold me two paddles recently and my valves now operate smoothly (with air or manually) and more importantly, no more leaks. Hank I think electric valves are the ticket because most times when
I dump I have no air to open or close the valve so I do it manualy or have to plan dumping. I just wonder what would happen to the electric motors if the valve's gate encounters an obstacle of a high fiber nature? would the motor stop or continue and damage the gate/ seal and motor?? and the other question is if the electric motor fails can you manualy dump?
