Power Tech 15KW Motor & Blower

Has any one replaced their Power Tech 15KW Motor & Blower Assembly and
what Part Numbers and source were your findings. Cost $$..etc......

Would it be suggested to replace the whole assembly with motor or just
the motor only. I think I have the motor with a winding to ground and
need at least a motor replacement. Is Grainger the place to go? Pro &
Cons of complete new assembly vs. just motor replacement from any ones
experience in the generator problem department.....

My squirrel cage fan failed last year. I removed the whole assembly
and took it to an electric motor shop where I asked them to fix or
replace the motor and rebalance the fan (look closely and you'll see
little bits of metal bent around some of the blades in the squirrel
cage). They found a replacement motor (as the OEM unit was long out
of existence), installed it, checked the balance of the fan, and
painted everything. I reinstalled the assembly in my coach. I don't
recall exactly what I paid (I'm on the road) but it was about $500 or
so... about double what Tom McCarthy paid in So. CA. (Typical SF Bay
Area prices, though...)

Since you're in the middle of the country, you'll probably find a
more reasonable-priced vendor.

Note: keep in mind that the motor is a 220 vac motor.... Also be sure
to check the capacitors, if they should fail, it might seem like the
motor is dead, when it is not.

Gregg I bought my 97 43' from Florida Last year. I found a bill the previous owner paid for the Blower motor and the capacitor from Grainger. I purchased the whole thing from BB at about $225 as I recall. Since I have read that Grainger and other places may have the system cheaper. Hisham,

It's easy just click on files on the left side of this page. When the
window opens on the right side down a few inches you'll see add file,
click on it. That will open to File name. hit the browse button then
choose what file you want to upload, for example you could place the
info in a word file. You can add a description, and notify the group
if you wish.

The number from Graingers, "3M957 1/3 HP 230 V" has been
discontinued. It has some cross refrenced motors, so I would make a
note of that.

The "rebalance" of the fan that Pete did sounds like it might be
important to do to keep the motor bearings healthy and reduce
vibration??????Unbalanced may have been the cause of the resulting
motor failure???
