Shop air compressor wont put out more than 110 PSI

Shop air compressor wont put out more than 110 PSI
My Porter Cable 135PSI 3HP/4GAL wont put out more than 110psi with 50'rubber
hose or 30' coiled yellow vinal(I think). It has always been this way since new.
No leaks or problems...My new Michlens need 120 psi so now I have to do
something. What psi compressor does everybody use?
Is there a compressor expert here? Does the length and composition of the hose
matter? If so what length and material hose do I need for my 135 psi
compressor? The output gauge on the compressor reads 130psi but wont pump up
tires past 110psi...
Ant help would be appreciated.

hose length and size can affect how much flow (CFM) a given compressor can deliver at a given pressure (PSI), but not the maximum pressure when the compressor cuts off.  You might check the pressure switch and regulator and see if you can set the pressure back higher.

In my experience you do not get the 'rated' PSI at the end of the hose from any compressor. They all are slightly below the rated max PSI. You'll need to get one rated at 150 PSI to get the 120 in your tire.

You could change out your pressure switch to a higher PSI (e.g., 150),if the tank was approved to that pressure. The max PSI for the tank should be stamped on the bottom. The tank ratings (max pressure) will be higher than the operating setup for safety purposes.

When the compressor is running and then cuts off, what does the pressure gauge right at the compressor say the pressure is then?  If it isn't 120+ at the tank when it cuts off then as someone else said you will need a new pressure switch (if the tank and motor can handle that pressure) or a new compressor if not.

NEVER Never, NeVeR use a shop compressor to air up your tires unless you have a drier of some kind in the line. Shop compressors only have one true function and that is to make wet air. The air that comes out of these monstrosities of ANY size are full of water and can really mess up the tires. Water and that powdered balancing crud don't mix either. You need a drier of some kind or Better Yet, buy a nice N or T size bottle of nitrogen and keep a 40 pounder with regulator, gauge and coily hose in the bus with you on the road. You can get it re filled at any welding shop or trade it if it is a rental. Air compressors rot the inside of the tires, promote mold growth and destroy some pressure monitoring systems. Tire shops have dehydrators on their bulk air systems. All the great things written before this post are true
enough but the real deal is just don't do it unless it is an emergency. I have kept a 40 pound nitrogen bottle in the rig for 15 years. You can get 150 pounds set on the gauge any time you want because the bottle starts out between 1800 and 2500 psi. A 40 pounder will totally fill 3 tires or more. If you have your rims dismounted and the bead edges polished before remounting CLEAN tires, you will not leak an ounce and rarely use your bottled gas.

I gave up on my home compressor.. I have a 20# CO2 tank with a fixed 150PSI
regulator..The tank is easy to carry around, and works well. You only need a
short hose, since you can take the tank to the tire.
You need a regulator set a bit higher than the desired tire pressure, or else
those last few #s take forever. I also have a small 5# tank i take in my Jeep
to air up the tires after a days Off-Roadin..The small tank has lasted me over 2
years...

Hi CO2 is a wet dirty gas that does not necessarilly do well in tires. Welding CO2 is nasty. Food grade CO2 is better but hard to find. Even shop grade nitrogen is 99.99% pure. Hospital "zero" grade is even cleaner but who needs it?

Shop air compressor wont put out more than 110 PSI
Hi,
It is a 40 or 45 pound tank but measure the intended storage space and buy accordingly. you can save some money and buy a single stage regulator. Harbor freight and Lowes have the quick connects, coil hose and gauge with filler. You may need to change out the fill snout for a straight / backward 45 degree type. It is tire and valve dependant..Tanks are expensive but you don't really own it, you keep trading it, or you can own it and keep it and paint it with flowers but getting it filled mayonly be certain days of the week and it is a drop off service..I have a type T and a 40. The T lives in the shed and the 40 in the rig. Call any time.
