Rear Parking Lights
Curt:
My rear parking lights did not work recently either. I would think that your circuit is similar to the FC. On the disc that I sent you, you will find a schematic called " Security Lighting". This schematic will show you the layout. One thing which is not on the schematic, is the transmission selector gear switch. In order for the rear parking lights to work:
John Reynolds and I took each one of mine apart, and neither one was making a good ground, as well as my relay was not seating properly. I now have lots of additional light when backing up. Good luck Terrace, B.C. Canada Looking for the perfect gift? Give the gift of Flickr! |

Rear Parking Lights
The Rear Parking lights turn ON when the Rear Parking dash switch is set to ON. No Ignition or Transmission in the mix. Shane suggested wiring direct to the dash switch and that's what was done.
Pretty easy really, about 1/2 hour job. I opened up the drivers front panel. Then popped the Rear Parking switch out from the dash. Turned the Ignition to ON...pushed R on the Transmission Pad, used a test light to know which wire was powered (and to be replaced).ÃÂ Next a fiberglass fish rod was inserted through the dash switch opening and pushed towards daylight to drivers front panel. Attached a #14 wire to the fish rod and pulled it back up through the dash switch opening. The drivers front panel end of the wire is wired to one of the always powered relays. Of course the dash end of the wire is wired to the Rear Parking switch. I labeled the Rear Parking wire that was replaced, taped the end, and stuffed it down in the dash. All is good. Thank you everyone for your input.ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ Curt Sprenger 1987 PT38 8V92 "MacAttack Racing" Anaheim Hills, CA |

problem is now they will not come on automatically when you prompt "R". If you
take the wire you taped and stuffed, make that wire power a relay (norm no contact) find a +12v source to pass tie it into the light side of your switch, there will be no back flow to the trans buttons when you manual power the lights. --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, Curt Sprenger > > The Rear Parking lights turn ON when the Rear Parking dash switch is set to > ON. Rear Parking Lights
In either the manual or the automatic (not really automatic) the Rear Parking switch is manually switched to the ON position.ÃÂ

Rear Parking Lights
Bill,
Checked ours also and they work as you describe, thanks for that insight! One less thing on the list. --Page Page & Lynda 1984 PT-40 "Lady Bird" Tallahassee, FL On Oct 10, 2009, at 11:13 AM, Wilhelmus Schreurs wrote:

Rear Parking Lights
Below is the pic of the relay set up that will allow you to keep the automatic backup lights on and also give you the option to turn them on manualy. even if you have the man switch off , the shifter will turn them on. in the diagram below the line from the cockpit to the rear of the bus is used only to trip an additional relay at the back but you can keep it to power the lights.
you can also add one more relay after the R trans signal wire to turn on the rear vision camera. that also would be wired on the other side of the man switch for the camera. I can add it to the diagram if needed if this image is too big here is a link to one hosted on my site http://www.rainbowrv.com/images/backuplts.jpg Greg of Tim&Greg 94ptca |
