We're considering a trip to NOLA and then up to the bourbon trail. Any ideas on things that are must see, places to stay or stay away from?

Steve, Is Bonnaroo kid friendly? What are the attractions that draw you there?

We spent 3 nights at French Quarter RV Resort in NOLA and are leaving in a few minutes. Right off the interstate and a few blocks walking to the French Quarter, Casino, St. Louis Cathedral, etc. Safe to walk during the day, just be aware especially at night. Just like any other city.
You are in the city so there is noise, sirens, etc.
They do take passport america discounts if there are no events.

Forest is "dead on" about the French Quarters RV resort if staying in the city is on your bucket list, otherwise some people use the state campgrounds around Lake Champlain a little north of the city. Do you have time for the "Natchez" trail while your down that way, or a "piece" of it???? Yes you can take the bird! Wink

Thanks!! That's great info to hear. I was kind of thinking of running the Natchez up to the Bourbon trail. Isn't there a camp/parking spot in the middle of the trace? I'm probably right at 65' with the toad, so any issues there?

Thank you! Deciding to own (maybe steward would be a better term) a Bluebird Wanderlodge was certainly one of my better decisions in life. Great group of people here!

Yeah, Forest "nailed it" so I can't add anything. There have some groups that have had mini rally's there when NOT in the "hey day" times! Tongue

As for the Natchez, I'd recommend you research here:

We all do different routes and we all have "individual expectations / needs" when it comes to campgrounds, I've found this to be about the best place to get unbiased info and a good feel for a place. Just read all the reviews of a place so you get a feel, can live with the pro's and con's, etc. My trip planner (wife) swears by this site and we have never been disappointed or had improper expectations. The campgrounds, for the most part, are just off the trail, 65' is EXACTLY my length with the toad! Wink

No worries on the trail and as long as it isn't a holiday weekend or something, you can use the pull offs to stop and take pictures, allow the dogs out, etc. They are "tight" but doable, the road is fine, just go slow when in doubt.

I like the music and the people - it's interesting living in an instant city of 80000 people that disappears after four days.

Kid wise, they have a few things for kids, not much. It might work well for some families, and not at all for others. I do see some families with kids right down to infants. And there are more than a few of us graybeards - last time there I was interviewed by a guy writing an article for an AARP publication.
